Junseo closed the door behind him and after making sure that it was locked he was turning to face his friend with a smile. Halloween had been something he’d always found to be a strange tradition, especially when he could speak and see the dead every other day of the year but that didn’t mean he didn’t want to get into the spirit of it just once. While he was too old for running around all dressed up nobody could ever be labelled too old for the Halloween fair and it seemed like the perfect plan in his mind. “You all ready to go?” He asked while slipping his hands into the pockets of his jacket.

It had been months since Junseo had last had a date and after a client of his had found this out, they had insisted they set such a ‘nice man’ up on a date. He had turned the offer down at first with a polite with smile but his client seemed to grow more insistent each time they came to have their cards read and in the end the clairvoyant finally caved just to get them off their back and besides, maybe it wouldn’t be as bad as the horror stories he’d heard about the ones that went wrong. 

As told, he was waiting outside a fancy looking restaurant, dressed smartly in a black shirt with a rose in the pocket and pants with no other information on who his date could be. All he knew was to look for someone carrying a rose just like himself to find his date for the evening.

“you watched them hit me and now you want to help?” Sungjoon swatted others hand away and then carefully touched his quickly swelling up cheek. “I don’t need it now. Damage has been done.” 

“Do you realise how fast all of that happened? I turn a corner, see someone throw a punch and run off! That’s not watching, man. That’s having no time to do anything.” The male retorted with a huff. “Just...Hold still, let me check it out alright? Got to check you aren’t bleeding or anything.”

It was sad to think that each of their tragic stories weren’t unique. It wasn’t just one poor soul suffering but millions of people all across the globe hooked on some form of drug and as they said, birds of a feather flock together and two addicts who led such similar lives ended up befriending one another. It wasn’t uncommon that they would often meet up, each off their head on their drug of choice but this time was a little bit different than usual. 

Jeyun hadn’t been able to get his hands on anything that morning and it was easy to see that he was agitated as he wandered through the party to try and spot his friends face. Maybe once upon a time he had been a proud man but that had gone as his addiction had grown and he wasn’t above begging for something to help him through the night. 

“Minsoo....” His shaking arm reached out and fingers went to curl around the others wrist. “Come with me to get some fresh air?” He was sure if his friend could even hear him over the music but hopefully he would follow him out.

Over the centuries that he’d been alive, the vampire had learned to stop giving a shit what anybody really thought about him. Why should he change and act a certain way when it wasn’t who he was? Some said life was too short to waste over caring what others thought but to him it was it was the opposite. Life was too damn long keeping up an act. 

His eyes had landed on the male, lips twitching into a smile as he looked him over. “Well hello, handsome.” He breathed out along with an exhale of smoke from his cigarette.

After going home to deal with his deceased mothers possessions he had come across a small box that she had kept and there was a collection of useless bis and pieces but one thing stuck out to him. There was a picture of his mother and a man, a man who he himself shared a little resemblance to.He stayed all night just sat cross legged with the box and pulled out each and every unsent letter from his mother to this male and by the time morning came the male was sure of one thing. The man on the photo was his father. Junseo was stood in front of a door a few days later, his heart pounding painfully hard in his chest as his hand remained curled and inches away from the door. He couldn’t even bring himself to knock when he knew would be on the other side. This man was his father...while most people would probably have been elated to find a parent, the male was the opposite. He had suffered so much over the years and his anger was bubbling and ready to boil over the surface at any given moment. With a deep breath he finally knocked.
