ALSO i really don`t understand why Eskara blames the muscle league for destroying the DMP base....sure I mean he defeated checkmate, but in the end it was Sunshine that destroyed the base.
I'll admit that I can't quite remember the Japanese or English manga explanations, but usually Cristy and Josh are particularly good at remembering details, so hopefully someone will correct me if wrong, but I think that his reason was different:
From vague memory, Mars was inside the d.M.p when it exploded. The version he was told (or was retconned) was that a rebellion took place and someone pressed a self-destruct button from within, as opposed to Sunshine destroying the base, and he was the sole survivor. He donned a disguise so as not to be found out by the Justice Chojin, and then entered the Hercules Factory.
I think his goal was less "revenge" and more that he was seeking to re-establish the d.M.p, with himself implied to be its new leader. By entering the tournament, he could defeat all the Justice Chojin and thus prove his worth (as he would be clearly superior and they would be humiliated). This would restore the reputation of the d.M.p, too.
The dub - again, I can't quite remember - probably took a fair few liberties, as it changed a lot . . . a lot a lot . . . like El Nino was originally from Japan, as one example, and the rules of who could be a second were changed, too, which affected the whole lore . . .
So - could be wrong - but I don't think it was revenge.
Just more an attempt to bring back the d.M.p.
