Antlersoup AU headcanons below

Toby is one of the youngest proxies(23-24 "current"). Became a proxy young as well, around 17 or 18.

The Operator’s influence has turned him into a shell of a person. The being withholds nearly all memory of his past and who he was before he accepted proxy life. Now, Toby has become accustomed to not knowing. He does not question his new normal, though always feels like he is missing something. Part of him still aches with a pain he cannot pinpoint, and when the fog clears just enough for the details to come rushing back—the man is thrown into a rage of grief and confusion. All is gone as soon as The Operator takes control once more.

The easiest for The Operator to possess other than Kate or Brian(a tale for another time). Toby often flows between being in control of his body and not—unphased by the routine of waking up places he never remembered going.

Subconsciously affected by his past a lot. Easily upset when he cannot understand why some things make him uncomfortable or scared.

Thrives in urban settings. While he enjoys the outdoors and the relative peace that comes with it, his real talents shine somewhere with plenty of faceless crowds and buildings to get lost in.

Kleptomaniac. If he wants something, he will 100% just steal it. Toby also often steals just because he can.

Parkour maniac. Genuine skill plus inability to feel pain, plus being semi-immortal is a true gift.

Insane stamina. You cannot and will not outrun this mfer.

Toby does not process what he does to other people. While he sadistically enjoys the fear of others, he has no concept of physical pain to know what he truly inflicts on his victims. Paired with his disconnect from reality and influence of The Operator, he is more like a cat playing with a mouse, if the cat didn’t know the difference between a squeaky toy and a living thing. It isn’t “murder” to him, it’s just business.

Finds it difficult to be empathetic in general. Has accepted the kill-or-be-killed lifestyle of proxies and considers those who lag behind or fail to be simply weak. Holds himself to this standard as well, often pushing himself beyond his limits just to prove that he is capable. If he dies, whatever—he simply wasn’t worthy.

Can hardly fathom another person being motivated by anything other than self-serving interest, or from the command of a master. Distrusts others to a fault.

 An otherwise carefree guy with a morbid and inappropriate sense of humor. Awful at taking anything seriously, other than direct orders from The Operator.

Known to swing into depression, overcome with the feeling of having forgotten something—of having done something awful he cannot identify. These are moments of near self-awareness that leave him uncharacteristically quiet and easily provoked. Like night and day from his usual disposition.

FEMA set fire to the apartment complex she was sheltering in. Now she comes to you. While a tad aloof, the woman will bake and tidy your home unprompted — as long as she gets to play with the cat. Will you let her in?

(The way she talks can be hard to follow. And the longer she yaps the more apparent it is that she's a freak...Maybe you should just throw her out.)

Still ironing out his story! So here’s some facts.

Issac Jackson Novak. Jack, aka “Eyeless Jack”

Age: ~27. Height: 6’8. Ethnicity: Mainly Irish, Scottish, and Indian. Partly eldritch horror.

A child of Caligo. His ritual to become a Prophet was incomplete/a failure. Technically is considered undead, or in a “between” state. 

Hears Caligo and the other Prophet’s voices in broken, distant speech while not being able to communicate back, due to intentionally forcing the connection away. Knows very many things about the universe and the mortals he meets without his consent. Sometimes blurts this knowledge out in the moment—a Prophet’s habit.

Cold to the touch and largely unaffected by temperature. Though seeks and enjoys warmth.

Has an eloquent and vast vocabulary. Human anatomy nerd and former medical student.

Craves human flesh and partly needs it to survive. Only takes human organs when absolutely forced. Tries to do as little harm as possible when he does so, using his medical knowledge and collection of tools he has accumulated through time to keep everything as clean and painless as he can. Often labeled as an organ trafficker by local authorities.

His face splits in two, revealing tangling tentacle-like appendages used to trap prey and funnel it down his throat so he can swallow it like a snake. Also has shark-like teeth.

Eye sockets leak a tar-like substance near perpetually, but more when he is hungry or in distress. Wears a patched-up cultist mask mostly out of shame.

At his core, kindhearted and good natured. Forced to become distant and cold in order to protect those around him. Battles internally with his desire to reconcile his wrongdoings and help others, and the knowledge that nothing he can do will ever allow him to do that safely.

Complicated feelings about his existence. Feels a deep guilt for abandoning his upbringing and failing to play out his destiny as a Prophet, but deeply resentful and afraid of the harm the group does, and the harm he causes as the monster he became. Believes he is nothing but a cursed mistake.

Perpetually exhausted mentally and emotionally. Short patience for those uncaring of his boundaries or others.

Will avoid people as much as possible. Even then, he has his weak moments. It is difficult to hold onto one’s humanity while remaining isolated from society.
