On 7 December 1941, the Japanese attacked the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor.
This piece of artwork, which is illustrated by Adam Hook and featured in CAM 62: Pearl Harbor 1941, depicts the Nevada running for safety towards the open sea.

The second prototype, the D3A, was already equipped with a 14-cylinder air-cooled radial engine, the Mitsubishi Kinsei 3.
The modifications also included increasing the wingspan by 40 cm.
The second prototype, the AM-17, embodied significant modifications and provided the basis for the Type 99 Carrier Bomber.

7 December 1941. Aichi D3A1 Type 99 Model 11 ‘Val’. The primary dive bomber of the Imperial Japanese Navy, it was involved in almost all their actions, including the attack on Pearl Harbour.
