“Boeing B-17G’s of 398th BG - 601st BS on the way to Munich, at 28,000 ft, on their penultimate mission of the war, of the 21st April 1945. Their target was marshalling yards. Total duration of flight was 10.5 hours, and 5 hrs spent on oxygen. Flak was plentiful but inaccurate due to cloud cover. PFF radar was used to bomb the target. Temperature - 40c.
The main aircraft seen in very close formation is 43-38708, 3O-T, and just tucked behind and under is 42-102596, 3O-N called ‘Doodit’.
The mission was uneventful with no losses.”
