The copaganda (propaganda in favor of cops) in that episode was awful.

The show positions all the arguments that Jeffrey makes as frivolous technicalities that are preventing Justice from happening and it is bullshit. 

It would be really fucking wonderful if cops needed a warrant for all kinds of stuff so you can have some level of privacy that can’t be destroyed whenever some cop feels like it.

It would be really fucking amazing to know when cops have a pattern and practice of breaking the rules and use that to establish the fact that they’re fucking liars. They do it all the time, on the stand and off, and we deserve to know.

It would be absolutely fucking fantastic if cops couldn’t assault someone and face no consequences because they say their use of force was justified and they just happened to have forgotten to turn their body camera on. I assume the benefits of such a rule are self explanatory.

The show wants you to remember the scene where Athena, a character you like and trust, justifies her actions so that when a real life cop or prosecutor makes the exact same excuses you are more likely to buy their shit.

Absolutely do not buy that shit.

Something about how Eddie, Shannon and Maddie all “””abandoned their families””” but Eddie’s is off screen while we have to dwell on Shannon and Maddie leaving doesn’t sit right with me but it’s too late at night to be properly articulate.

Absolutely loving Chim’s progression to Captain

Completely overlooked when he starts at the 118 to

feeling underutilized by Bobby in s1 to

really difficult first steps in the Captain’s shoes in s2 that culminates in everyone being annoyed with him, THEN Shannon dying on his watch and THEN the engine getting blown up and Buck getting injured to

being unwilling to step into the captains shoes even briefly in S3 to

stepping up at the end of S4 when Bobby is trapped

To boldly declaring he is in charge in s5 with a smile

That Chimney and Buck scene made me laugh so hard because they were acting exactly like how my sister and I act, only with my cat. I'll threaten to not let her see my cat or to not send her cat pictures, and she always caves immediately. It's hilarious because we both know that I'd never follow through with it, but it works every time.

And like, obviously Chimney wouldn't actually follow through with never letting Buck see Jee-Yun again and they both knew that, but it still worked and Buck immediately caved. Like Chimney knew he would. It was strong sibling energy, not whatever the crap some idiots are claiming it was.

I also assumed that Buck was giving Chimney a harder time about it than everyone else, because that's just what they do. They tease each other, we see it happen all the time! They act like brothers, it's normal sibling behavior.

Also, in what world could anybody possibly look at any version of Chimney and see abusive? There's lietrally nothing backing it, they're just too focused about "protecting" (translation: babying) Buck when he doesn't need to be.

(They're also the same kind of people who vilify Maddie constantly, which makes me angry too. But I think that's technically a separate conversation.)

Basically everyone I know that has a good relationship with their sibling has a dynamic similar to that scene or you and your sister. When you're older, keeping your younger siblings in check is one of the most fun parts of being an older sibling.

Reading that scene as abusive would require you to discount their on screen relationship over 4+ seasons and believe Chim would keep Jee-Yun from Buck over a charger. That's just not a plausible interpretation of the text.

And I think you're right that it stems from people "protecting/babying" Buck. I don't know if you read fanfic, but the lawsuit era fics were unbearable because of this.

Also, it really gave the game away that (as far as I saw) the op who made the original post didn't seem to take issue with Buck's treatment of Ravi in the same episode/scene.

I will disagree with you on one point because I think Buck is just like that with everyone at the station.

BLOG UPDATE: time for a change

Hello folks,

I haven’t really enjoyed running this blog for a while. It’s been too time consuming and the fandom just gets more and more toxic so I think it’s time to make a change.

This blog will remain up as an archive of old posts, but going forward, I’m going to be posting on @everybodybutbuddie. It will be a blog dedicated to all the other wonderful characters from the original 911 that are not Buck and Eddie. 

Not sure on the actual timeline bc I just decided this today but I’ll keep you all posted.
