Getting a roommate was definitely one of Riri’s better ideas. Though some of the people she’d met in New York kept her social, her tendency to lose herself within her mind was still pretty prominent. Having Ava around at home meant that Riri had to have human contact throughout the day, something her mother had been incredibly pleased to hear the last time she’d called home. (How long ago had that been? Riri made a mental note to call later, but it would likely be forgotten the moment an interesting project flitted across her mind.)
Unfortunately, having a roommate also came with its downsides. Specifically, having a remarkably normal roommate with no connection to the superhero community and no idea that Riri flew around New York in a red suit of armor had its downsides. Riri loved Ava, really, but it was tough hiding a big part of your life from someone you lived with. This became increasingly apparent every time Ava knocked on her bedroom door when Riri had some portion of her armor out to work on. “Uh, just a minute!” she called, scrambling to her feet and grabbing a blanket off the ground to throw across her workspace. “I’m naked! Like, suuuuper naked so just, uh, gimme a sec!” Ensuring that the blanket was properly covering all her equipment with no bits or pieces peeking out, Riri nodded to herself and made her way across the room, pulling her door open with a smile. “What’s up?”
