An Island has been Spotted!
Visit our Partner DeviantArt Group Here. Nearby in the Orlan region you can travel from Blue Beach to a new Island that has appeared near Chiyeko Kingdom. Shining Country is a land filled with various Shiny Eeveelutions.
DeviantArt groups rejecting your last chapter because it’s “Mature content” but you’ve already submitted the whole Lilith’s Scepter fanfic which is even worse and the only difference is you forgot to put the Mature content filter on...
... which pretty much proves that no one is reading what you actually submit to those groups, they just check the filter and that’s all.
DA Group: Come and join us!! We've everything about videogame female characters!! Bring here your badass girl!! All kinds of art accepted!!!
Me: Do you accept fanfics?
DA Group: No, sorry, no fanfiction.
"female characters can’t be dependent or protected by men" This just in, women can't form emotional attachments without becoming weak, I honestly think that says more about that group than anything else honestly. Did they even read your fic to see any of this "dependence" on Trent?
Hi, anon! Thanks for asking. Honestly, and according to this group admin’s total rejection to discuss my reasoning, he/she only watched the chapters illustrations and overlook briefly the text, just to notice the male partner, and crossed out my fanfic as an option to their group. He/she also said something about a chapter in which he saves her life, but anyway… does this make her dependent on him? She also saves him in other moments.
Anyway, I’ve plenty of weird experiences with DA groups and their staff, it’s something you get used to when being so many years there. But it’s the first time someone asks me to remove a character of my fic so it can fit the group rules. Not only he/she revealed he/she knew nothing about TRAOD (or even Lara Croft?????), it was a bit disrespectful to me as a writer. I ain’t even mad, of course, but still…
I totally get that DA groups are like isolated kingdoms, where the rulers make their rules, and I understand perfectly that “their group, their rules”, and if I don’t like it, I just move to another group. I’ve made this a lot of times and I will be doing it many more, without any kind of resentment.
So, I’ve no problem with the fact that a group about “powerful female videogame characters” has its rules, but it just baffles me how they think that a female character is weakened or dependent just because of having a male partner. And the fact the relationship between Lara and Kurtis was judged without actually reading about it.
Anyway, I’m not the one to judge them. I just wanted to share one of the most weird experiences I had in DA. There are many more… but those are other stories.
DA Groups
It's really hard to find good ones that aren't already full of members. I really miss the good old days of joining groups, and now that I'm no longer in school and just have to deal with my OG job, I actually have time to do that kind of thing again, but can't find them.
Anyone know of any?
Who We Are
The paper chain project has existed on the internet for some time now, on various other art sites and with various other groups under various different names. "The Paper Chain" was a name made up for DA. It was created here as a hub for people who have been interested in doing such things, but lacked the exposure or understanding to make it work. The Paper Chain is basically an ongoing, no obligations art contest/trade/request group which is open to anyone to enter at any time. You may participate whenever you feel like. If you wish to remain updated it is recommended you watch or join this group to receive journal updates for winners and the next challenge. Special mini challenge may be open to members only of this group in the future.
How it Works
How it works in a nut shell is it starts with one artist. We'll call them artist A. Artist A puts up their character (see character submission sheets for more details). Anyone who wishes to participate must then draw that character. Sketches, CGs, whatever is fine unless otherwise stated. Artist A will then get to pick the winner of that contest (and 2 runners up in case the winner fails to submit their sheet). The winner will then take the place of Artist A and have their character drawn for the next round and so on and so forth. Artists are also welcome to submit extra prizes for winners and runners up.
Just a reminder to any artists out there who like to give art and get art! We have weekly sketch rounds and regular monthly rounds. Join and participate whenever you like~!
