♅ - How close to canon do you stick when creating fantrolls? What is a headcanon or fan-canon that you abide by? What is one that you disagree with?

I try to stick with canon as much as possible! If I’ve broken anything that’s 100% established in canon, then it’s probably by accident.

Aside from the ones @toomanydamnhelmsmen listed (tl;dr: helms get big brother in their brain and Alternia doesn’t tolerate kids running around shouting revolutionary things), one headcanon that I use is that the way that helmsman biowire integrated into their limbs will actually slowly eat away at them after a certain point - and it’s possible to set it up otherwise, but there’s not much of a point when helmsmen are lowbloods with short life expectancies and don’t need to be removed from a ship until it’s perfectly alright to just hack away their limbs. (I bet some new helmsmen keep company with body parts that got left behind, even.)

One that I disagree with (or at least prefer to exclude from my canon) is the prevalence of helmsmen that aren’t part of fully integrated columns. We really only get the one look at helmsmen via the Psiioniic, and it’s perfectly possible that he’s an exception! But, independent non-Empire rigs aside, the idea that part-time rigs are in every way better to integrated ones kind of ruins the backstory of a lot of my trolls. (And also isn’t as fun to me, haha.)

How fast was Vardan prior to becoming a Rainbow Drinker? What about after?

he was already pretty speedy to begin with, given that his legs go on for days, so he could already cover a pretty large distance in a short time. becoming a drinker didnt add too much of a boost to that, but he very quickly learned the art of stealth so sometimes he seems to pop up out of nowhere when he had just been somewhere else seconds before.

Laurent usually uses a random character, while Father cycles through all the blue characters... 

But Laurent is really good at smash, it’s pretty amazing! No matter what character he uses, he can beat pretty much all of us. Especially Dad. (But anyone can beat Dad, it’s not hard.)
