Notice of Action (23), from DACALOGUE [2017]

Today the DACA program came before the supreme court, or rather they argued over whether or not it is legal to end the program because conservative states threatened to sue over the cost of making (extra?) driver’s licenses. It’s absurd that an 80-minute argument on executive power and the Administrative Procedure Act will decide whether people who grew up in a place can belong to that place. I remember hearing about the Dream Act in 2003 as an undoc high schooler, they said it was a bureaucratic fix to the problem of the gov’t denying documents to immigrant children. I also read my Kafka in 2003, and I’m not surprised that it’s been a whole Greta Thundberg later and the same group of kids (now adults) are still in the same predicament. That’s why it’s important to support yr undoc friends, fam, artists, and activists directly with $$ and opportunity and access and community.
