You don’t know why you both assumed it would be quick but it takes longer than you expect to get pregnant
You get very stressed about it and he reassures you that it will be okay
You’re in the midst of planning to go to a fertility center when you start to feel sick every day
You take another pregnancy test and both of you cry when it confirms your suspicions
It’s a rough pregnancy but you can't find it in you to complain
You wanted this so badly so some discomfort or pain is worth it
You get a lot of morning sickness and Joshua holds your hair every time
He takes you to every doctor’s visit
You both cry like babies when you hear you baby’s heartbeat for the first time
Even before your baby can hear Joshua talks and sings to them
He he tells the baby stories about his day
He sings little songs and when they get bigger he feels for the kicks
He has so many plans for what his baby will be like and all the things he’ll do
He helps with setting up the nursery and he has so many ideas for names
He’s gentle and loving with you too
He tells you how happy he is and how beautiful you are
He is so in awe watching you create life
He’s planned so much for the moment your water breaks
And his planning means nothing
He asks if you’re in pain and he holds you hand
You have to remind him that your water breaking does not mean the baby is almost here
You know you probably still have a long labour ahead of you
He takes you to the hospital and calls his family and yours and tells them what’s happening
You spend the first little while just calming him down
Once he has a better idea of everything happening during the labour he calms down
He knows he’ll be okay and so will you
He spends a lot of time sitting beside you
He goes back and forth between talking to you and talking to the baby
He smooths back your hair and kisses your forehead and nose
He tells you how proud he is and you remind him that you haven’t even started pushing yet
“You still grew our baby, I’m allowed to be proud of you”
When it’s time to push you can tell he’s stressed
He hides it well but you know him better
You hold his hand and listen to his voice and the doctor’s telling you when to push
You only vaguely hear Joshua’s chorus of “i love yous” and “you’re amazings”
You fall back to the bed when you hear your little girl cry for the first time
You both tear up when you hold her in your arms
It’s as if his whole world has shifted
He thought he knew what real, true love was
He thought between you and his beliefs that he really knew what love was
But that pales in comparison to what he feels for his little girl
She is the light of his life
He would hold her every waking minute if he could
The company doesn’t initially give him much time off and he begs them for more
Which he gets thanks in part to the cute baby who attended the meeting and in part to the twelve men who were very adamant that he be able to stay with his little girl and wife for a while
Seungcheol decided they will all get at least some paternity leave and he’s determined to see that through
Joshua loves to sing to his daughter
You think he sings more often then he talks
He bounces her gently and sings different songs to her
When she’s fussy and he’s tired he makes up terrible freestyle raps
They’re bad but she always calms down
As the first few weeks go by everyone points out that she has Joshua’s eyes
The same shape and colour
The same mischievous glint
She may be just a baby but you could have sworn you’ve already seen it
You have a feeling she’s going to be just like her dad
