Dad!wig who isn't great a verbalizing his emotions. Really is okay at admitting how he's feeling, but he can explain why he feels that way. As his son grows up, Lud learns along with his son how to verbalize his emotions.
Lud is no stranger to "big emotions", as you loving call it. Usually it end with the two of you sitting down and talking to him until you get a real answer, almost two hours later. After his son is born and gains sentience, he realizes the he has to be able to explain emotions.
It starts as a family event, you and Lud gather around the kid and try to calm him down. Once he's calmed down some, Lud has you take the lead and help guide the kid to figure out what happened to cause his "big emotions". Eventually, like a year or two later Lud becomes a master at talking through both his own and his kids emotions.
