-Daichi, the type of dad to buy the kids sweets behind your back if you've restricted them from having a sweet treat. When he's feeling like getting something good to eat, he feels like the kids should too. This means he's gonna scan the house to see if the coast is clear before taking them with him to get that dessert.

-Daichi, the type of dad to just love carrying the kids around. Especially the little ones. He'd have them sitting on his shoulders all the time. He lets them sit on his shoulders so much that they don't even want to walk anymore and just want their Dad to carry them.

-Daichi, the type of dad to fall for the kids' little pranks. Definitely when your kids fall asleep in the car so they can get carried into the house. He'd always think about how the kids must be tired instead of how he's getting played because they were too lazy to walk out of the car.

-Daichi, the type of dad to read the kids' bedtime stories. He'd let them sit on his lap while he's reading and pointing out the book's illustrations, teaching them the plot's significance till they get sleepy.

-Daichi, the type of dad to see his kids run up to him with arms open for a hug when he gets home from the police station. He's always so happy to see his children excited to greet their Dad getting back home after a long day of work.

-Daichi, the type of dad to always show up to your children's school events and games. He's proud to be a father of your children and he will show it through his actions and how he cares for them. Daichi definitely cheers the loudest for them and always rewards them after the event with something the kids would like to eat for dinner or just a treat.

-Daichi, the type of dad to definitely introduce the kids' first sport as volleyball. He'd occasionally play with them as well if he's off of work and feels like teaching them some new tricks or helping them improve. He also talks about his high school volleyball days for sure when the kids ask him why he loves volleyball so much.

-Daichi, the type of dad to have your kids know his friends as their uncles. They favor Uncle Sugawara for sure since he'd be over at your house the most to just hang with your husband and the kids. They’d call him the cool uncle. They'd also just love Asahi and think he's the super nice uncle, sometimes Asahi would fall for their pranks if he’s babysitting them.

-Daichi, the type of dad to give up a few hours of his day to help the kids on their school projects. This even means staying up late to help them with homework as well, making sure they understand the material for their next day of school .

-Daichi, the type of dad to loves taking family photos for memory's sake. This would for sure root before you even met him. Ever since your children were born he's literally the family photographer, dad, husband, and a cop.

Pt. 1

Tomorrow had come sooner than you liked. Yesterday was spent in Daichi’s arms as you talked of the little things in life. It was pure ecstasy. You felt spoiled for getting to just have a day like that. But those feelings went away as your father announced your marriage to a foreign king, to whom you had never met. Who had a reputation for mistreating his past wives. You would have been his fifth wife if you married him.

“I don’t want to marry him father”

“It is your duty as princess to this kingdom”

“He has executed and divorced his past wives I do not want to die father”

“You will not die so long as you listen and abide by him”

You stared at your father incredulously. He expected you to sit by and let what was left of your life be dedicated to a man who would most likely kill you if you didn’t comply. With a heavy heart you exited your father’s office and quickly made it to your room. Daichi was already there waiting. 

“We have to go, Daichi”

“What’s wrong?”

“If we do not get married then I will be marrying a man twenty years my senior and who was a reputation for killing his past wives”

“Then we must make haste, your majesty”

“Daichi, what have I told you”

“Sorry force of habit I suppose”

Both you and him quickly donned your cloaks and made your way to the stables. The stable boy was easy to pay off and you took an old path through the forest to get to a church. It was known for being a safe haven for women and usually helped many with whatever they needed including in this case, shotgun weddings. 

Daichi had taken the reins and was guiding the horse through the forest. Your back was pressed up against his and you could feel his heartbeat. It was quick. You lifted your head to see Daichi focused on the journey. He only got that look when he was determined to do something, like eating a whole pie or right now marrying you.

Arriving at the church, Daichi helped you off the horse and you took the horse to the stables outside. Daichi went inside to find a priestess willing to perform the marriage. When you went inside there was a woman in traditional clothing and Daichi talking by the altar. You took slow steps towards them, taking in the sereness of the church. The sunlight shone through a stained glass window at the top of a wall and onto your figure. 

This drew Daichi’s attention who became enraptured with you. It was like seeing again, but this time in a new light. No pun intended. The priestess smiled at you and once you made it to the altar she guided you to where to kneel. 

“Thank you for doing this”

“It is no issue, I’ve done the same for countless other women” 

Daichi kneeled next to you and the priestess began performing the rights of marriage. It was a quick ceremony with the rings being presented by Daichi. The rings were simply golden bands but on the inside had the other’s name engraved inside. It was an eternal promise for love.

“Do you, Sir, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?”

“I do”

“And do you, Princess, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?”

“I do”

“Then in the power vested in me I present husband and wife.”

Both you and him rose and captured each other. It was a sweet and short kiss. After his forehead rested on yours, and all he did was smile.

“My Knight”

“My Princess”

That day a letter was found in the princess’ room, it was a goodbye letter. She had run off with a Knight of Kings’ Guard and pledged never to return. The king nearly died of shock and sent riders out to find them but with no luck. They managed to escape him. In their life both Daichi and you lived long lives. Though you never had children you raised many children in the village who lacked a home.

To many in the area, both yours and Daichi’s house became known as a safe-haven to many. You taught many how to read and write which helped them later on in life go to school and become great scholars. You were never found by your father and when he died the kingdom dissolved into a parliamentary system. 

The smooth transition of power settled many worries in both yours and Daichi’s mind. It seemed many years had passed now and many of the children you taught were now in their late teens.

Someone was knocking on your door late this afternoon. You opened it to find one of the children you were tutoring, Tsukishima Kei. His family had perished long ago and he then was put into your and Daichi’s care. 

“Hello my child,” you whispered to him. He was too tall, now you couldn’t even kiss the top of his head. “You’re too tall now.”

“Thank you for the kind words. I’m only here because I wanted to say goodbye before I left”

“Daichi, get in here! Where are you going?”

“The castle, I was picked to be a archivist in the library”

“That’s amazing!”

Daichi and you knew this day was coming. When all your little birds would grow up and leave the nest. But you never expected it to be this soon. Has it already been a decade?

Retirement and the pastoral life looked good on you and Daichi. The countryside had treated you all well. It was nice.

I keep thinking about single dad daichi

And how he’s very nervous to turn up to a baby play session, thinking he’s gonna be the only guy there 🥺 and how he thinks he’s gonna be judged for being a single dad

But in reality all the mums are swooning over him!!! And how his muscles flex under his shirt as he carries his daughter!! But he makes eye contact with you across the room and your children instantly hit it off, playing with eachother and he feels so relaxed around you

You exchange numbers so your kids can have a “play date” but you’ve been texting all night and giggling 🥺🥺🥺

He calls you when he’s unsure about something begging you to come over and over help - like how the hell do play tea parties??? How does he braid his daughters hair??? (“The YouTube tutorials just aren’t enough” he mutters as you run your fingers through his daughters hair, he’s definitely not paying attention to your hands, watching your face instead)

He realises he’s falling for you when he watches you talk and babble with the two toddlers over dinner, giggling as you play airplanes. His heart bursts when you make eye contact whilst your children nap on your chests. The way you blush when he wipes some glitter off your cheek.

He realises he’s in love with you when you’re all in the car together, singling loudly to their favourite nursery rhymes and how natural it all feels. The way you lean into him, sat on the park bench whilst your children run havoc on the play park. How easy it is for his arm to fall around your shoulders and how you hesitantly rest your head on his shoulder as he does so. How warm his skin gets when your hand slides into his.

“this is nice” he whispers, running a finger over your cheek as you look up at him.

You lean up to place your lips against his but not before your children launch themselves onto your laps, demanding they have some ice cream. Inevitably you guys give in to them, standing up and asking what flavour they want and laughing with them as daichi slips his hand into yours, walking to buy ice cream. It was so easy. So natural. His little family 🥺🥺

Drabble: Cleaning Out the Attic Brings Back Memories

It had been nagging you for months. Clean out the attic. Clean out the attic. It was the nostalgic feeling of your mother nagging you to clean your room, but this time, you had to be the mother.

Dozens of boxes had gathered dust here over the last few years and you couldn’t tell apart yours from the others, but regardless, some had to go. The thought of items gathering in the attic made you grow uneasy; the clutter close to driving you insane. Finally, you had enough, and the brown boxes gathering dust needed to find a home.

In the order of importance, you began separating the pieces of memorabilia.

When you two moved in together, your junk became his junk and vice-versa. You couldn’t tell who’s junk was who’s, and you needed to make an executive decision.

“You. You’re the lucky winner.” You mumbled to the box before you with highschool written on it.

Daichi helped you pack when you moved out of your parents’, labeling each box accordingly from each source, but it still didn’t tell you who’s box was it.

Peeling off the tape, you found the black and orange Karasuno yearbook, with “Fly” engraved across the front. Oh, the fond memories you had of that school.

Long nights traveling to Tokyo for tournaments; how Daichi begged Coach Ukai to let you travel on the bus since your parents were always out of town and he didn’t want you driving by yourself.

Long days feeling your boyfriend and his friends’ eyes drilling beams into the back of your head, knowing you’ll have to share your notes with them since clearly they weren’t paying attention to the sensei.

Quiet weekend days spent in your boyfriend’s arms watching movies you saw dozens of times, knowing you’ll fall asleep to his heart’s beat on his chest, because let’s be honest, that was your intention all along.

Loud evenings of music, laughter and trash talk when the teammates of your boyfriend’s volleyball team would ruin the quiet time you had because they realized your parents were out of town.

Responsible Daichi kicking them out at a proper time because he “didn’t want to disturb the neighbors” but in reality he wanted intimate alone time with you.

Those muscles chiseled from hours of practice barricaded you many nights in the dark, private moments and breathy kisses shared between the two of you because you knew you didn’t want to spend your nights with anyone else.

You come across a newspaper -aged with time-of the boys you used to know and the success they had from winning another huge game against a rival team. Those young faces bring you to an awe, tears welding in your eyes realizing how long it has been since you have spoken to most of them. 

You sniffle and wipe another tear from your eye, reaching for a trophy Daichi had stuffed away, exposing him to be the owner of the box.

The door on the floor below shuts and footsteps are heard, growing louder as time passes.

“Sweetheart?” Your husband calls, he creaking against the wood below his feet. “Are you up here?”

“I’m over here.”

You wipe the tear from the opposite eye and feel his presence over your shoulder.

“What are you looking at... oh. Hey!” He chuckles with a light smile growing to his lips. “I haven’t seen this in years!” You move to the side with some difficulty, your thirty-two weeks or eight months of growing child making it much harder to move now-a-days. “Hey, what’s wrong?” Instant worry dresses his face whilst he bends over, full examination mode.

“Nothing, Dai, just hormones.” You sniffle eyeing the shiny badge on your husband’s chest. His biceps, in better condition than high school, pull you from the ground and into his arms. 

Being held by Daichi was one thing you never wanted to change. Muscular, gentle arms welcoming you with endless love, there’s no wonder how you got pregnant.

“How’s my princess?” His fingers trace along the bump failing to be hidden by your shirt.

“Kicking. Always kicking.” You expose the newspaper you were holding. “How do you think they’re doing, Dai?” You choke, handing him the paper.

He chuckles again, caressing your tummy with his free hand.

“Hmm, well. Suga is downstairs, the Tanaka’s are down the road... I saw Yamaguchi Tuesday and...”

“The rest of the boys are living their lives...” You let out a sob and cover your face embarrassed.

“Oh, Sweetheart...” He chuckles pulling you into his arms the best that he can, your head on his chest. “They’re ok! They haven’t forgotten where home is. They’re just a little busy now.” He insures you. “Just like you. You’re creating this beautiful miracle inside of you. That’s a lot of work. And in few weeks you’ll be able to stay home with her and I’ll take care of the both of you.”

“You’re just saying that because she looks like you.” You playfully roll your eyes smacking his firm chest.

“Well yeah... but that’s just a bonus.” He grabs your hands. “Don’t worry, Sweetheart. Everyone is doing well.” He presses his lips to your forehead and pulls your hand in the direction of the stairs. “But for right now, Suga found the teal blanket you were looking for and I brought your favorite soba, so come downstairs and stay out of the attic.”
