My dad is disappointed that Joseph didn’t do his “the next thing you’ll say is…” thing with Jotaro during their initial conversation about Dio.
Dad and I are finally done with Part 2! He really seemed to like it! Fun fact: the first JJBA episode he ever watched was the last episode of Part 2! My mom and I were watching, and he happened to be in the room. Since he didn’t know about JJBA when he first watched it, though, he didn’t have the proper context to know what was going on.
Dad, about the bit in End of the World where the spotlight is shining across the screen: “That has Scooby-Doo vibes.”
Me: “That it does. And Dio would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for those meddling Joestars!”
Overall, my dad and I really enjoyed Part 1! I’m glad I finally got the chance to see the whole thing! It got really intense towards the end!
I think Dad will really like Part 2! It’s around the same length, but it gets action-oriented a lot quicker!
Dad just called Caesar “the most Norwegian-looking Italian guy” he’s ever seen.
Joseph and Caesar remind my dad of Ryu and Ken, respectively, from Street Fighter.
Yo! New update! I got my dad into JoJo!
He definitely enjoys Phantom Blood so far, more than my mom ever did! I told him a lot about the series beforehand, so he found various moments humorously ironic (like Dio planning to use the Stone Mask to kill Jonathan).
Some moments:
Dad, after Jonathan said ‘Crikey!’: “Shiver me timbers!”
After Dio uses the mask to try to kill a guy: “Did he just create an immortal vampire?”
He also said that, the way Dio is shown burning in the Joestar mansion fire, there’s no way he should have survived. I also compared him to a Terminator, fitting considering my earlier comparison of him in Part 3 to a glam-rock Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Also, some of the transitions were really cool! Like the Stone Mask in Episode 1 transitioning to the Joestar mansion, or the transition to Jonathan about to exit the carriage in Episode 2. I forgot about those.
