Are we getting more daddy Garrus soon on "the boy" 🥺👉👈 my eyes hunger for more of your story and their fluff.
Gasp! Dad Garrus is pretty much my favorite subject. Just give me a reason to write more about Dad Garrus (and Mom Jane) and I will happily deliver 😁 So, here you go, a little snippet I threw together for you.
Not so long ago Garrus and Jane’s favorite thing to do at the end of a grueling day had been watching vids together. Mostly vampire, sometimes action, very often romances about best friends falling in love.
It had been ages since they watched a vid, though, because they found an activity that was superior in every way imaginable: bath time.
They’d been blessed with two energetic toddlers, so, including storytime afterwards, the event took up the same amount of time as a vid. Which was alright with them.
Jane had taken the role of instigator, and Niccy and Sophie howled and jittered with joy as soon as they saw her pull out the tub of toys. She’d pile the tub full of little squeaky ducks, sputtering mechanical boats, and fishing poles that caught gaping-mouth fish. She’d pour in liquid, filling the tub with puffy bubbles that they shaped into mountains, or blew into each others’ faces. With tiny slapping hands they’d splash each other, sending splatters of water all over each other, the rug, the walls, giggling until they tattered over and Jane had to right them. While Garrus wisely stood back beside Rocket near the door, Jane usually wound up drenched and with rose-kissed cheeks from laughing so much.
Garrus loved watching Jane play with their babies, but his favorite part of bath time was the tender moments. The moments when everything slowed down, and he knew what it meant to be the protector, care-giver, and father of two sweet little spirits who relied on him for everything.
Like when Niccy would cling to Garrus’s steady hold as he was lowered into the warm water, his little pedi-talons curling and releasing as water inched up his feet, and would purr with contentment as he sank into it up to his waist. It always took Niccy a minute or two to stop holding on to Garrus’s hand. The minute his fingers relaxed, Garrus’s heart always hurt a little. Letting go was hard.
Or, when it was time to wash Sophie’s hair and she’d look up at Garrus with trusting brown eyes, fluttery wet lashes, and he’d smooth his talons through her tight coils, taking extra care not to tangle her prefect, bouncy curls. She’d tilt her head back, close her eyes, and smile sweetly as Garrus washed the suds out.
Once cuddle and story time was over and the kids went to bed, Garrus and Jane would cozy up on the couch to wind down. A few times, when Sophie and Niccy were still babies, they tried to watch a vid, but they quickly discovered that bath time made everyone pretty sleepy. That’s how vid night became sitcom night, because who the hell had time for a vid with two beautiful, energetic toddlers.
