Ouch imagine the ‘I hate you fight!’ Valerius would literally just lock himself in his room and cry. (But I like to lessen the pain by imagining the teen being just as choked up about what they said to Valerius because they don’t hate dad! And teen just apologizing, “I was just really mad and frustrated andIdidn’tmeanitlikethatI’msorry!!”) Note: MC teases them both for being such soppy messes.

I just love the image of valerius in total shock when he hears it-- “I hate you!” followed by this really heavy silence. and then he looks down and pinches the bridge of his nose, and the kid tries to apologize, but valerius cuts them off with a sharp “leave me, please. this discussion is finished” and let’s remember that this is all his worst fears realized...that night he waits until mc is asleep and then sinks to the ground with his back to the bathroom door and sobs, sure that he’s irredeemable, that he’s fucking this up and he can’t fix it. and hhhh when the kid apologizes and they make up?!? top quality shit man

Dad Valerius incoming! The only way if you ever want a chance to hold the little angel is if you catch MC and ask them. However if it’s Valerius it’s a straight up no to ANYONE. No exceptions. He’ll make that baby holder wrap look fashionable “can I hold baby?” “No” “then can I see them?” “You’re not allowed to even breathe this way, shoo” (he commonly tells people to make their own baby or go adopt one. Any other baby. Just not his.)

!!! he protective!! also if you think val’s baby isn’t the best dressed kid in the entire city, you’ve got another thing coming. he swaddles it in fine silks and linens, and secretly (not so secretly for you) thrills over buying new little outfits, finds tiny baby booties melt his heart like nothing else!! and yes he’s definitely v protective of the babe, and he pretends it’s all this territorial that’s my kid thing, but you know underneath that he’s just terrified that something might happen to the baby

but can we also maybe talk about valerius being a dad of a teen and all the issues? trying to balance teaching them etiquette while still letting them run free, trying to keep them safe from the horrors of the past (arguments about how they’re “not a kid anymore, dad, and you can’t keep me locked up forever!” ouch ouch ouch)

If you want something warm and fluffy, I’ve got some for Val. So MC has just given birth and there’s a lot of eyes so Valerius gives a tight reaction to the birth of his child. You can still tell he loves that baby but he’s holding some things back ya know? And then when night hits and it’s just the three of them MC wakes up to see Valerius rocking his baby and you can tell he might have been crying and he’s just whispering these sweet nothings and promises to this tiny little babe.

I just love how controlled he is all the time and then how absolutely open he is with you. like he’s a completely different person! at first, with all these doctors and servants around, he’s sweet but not too emotional. a measured smile, stroking your hair gently, kissing your sweaty temple, smiling over your shoulder at the baby, but inside he’s petrified that he’s going to mess this up, that somehow he’s going to ruin this little thing and fail you again and I’ll be damned if you don’t think he cries about it when no one’s around hhhh I just need soppy dad valerius
