WHAT
ok i’m not certain that’s what he meant of course, but at the beginning when he said alec doesn’t get to have a beard in 2b, but there was an opportunity where it would’ve been appropriate - he said there’s a scene where alec wakes up (where it would make sense to have stubble) so like.... might this scene be alec waking up with magnus?
I'm not even that into Jimon but I feel like “Fuck I feel like I got hit by a car… Wait I did? And it was your car?” has the potential to be absolutely GOLDEN omg
Simon slowly wakes up to a painfully bright light surrounding him. The light is seeping into his skin and hurting his eyes to the point of tears. It feels like he is one with the light, almost like he is... one with the Force.
He squeezes his eyes shut.
“I’m not dead. I’m not dead. I’m not dead,” he whispers to himself.
“Of course you are, dumbass,” a voice says from somewhere within the light.
Simon slowly peels his eyes open. A black shadow is blocking what seems to be the main source of light, and making it easier to see.
Simon rubs his eyes, and when he lowers his hands, a realization strikes him like lighting.
It’s not some mystical light, and it’s not even the Force. It’s just the sun. The normal, warm sun that he’s known his entire life.
He frowns at the figure above him.
“What do you mean I’m dead?” he asks.
“You’ve been dead for months,” Jace says. He holds out a hand and helps Simon to his feet. When they’re level, he says, “You’re a vampire, dumbass."
“Oh right.”
Simon blinks a few times. His eyes have adjusted fully to the light now and he’s moved on to wondering what the hell made him pass out. His whole body is aching.
“Fuck. I feel like I got hit by a car,” he says with a shallow laugh. Jace looks at him with raised eyebrows.
That’s when Simon notices the car.
He’s not sure why he hadn’t seen it already, but just a few feet away from them is a car with a pretty sizeable dent on the hood.
He walks over to it and runs his fingers over the dent. “Wait, I did? And it’s your car?”
“It’s my car, but I didn’t hit you with it,” Jace drawls.
Simon frowns. “But then how–”
“Raphael was supposed to train with you today,” Jace says, and crosses his arms over his chest. A smile is playing around the corners of his mouth but he’s obviously trying to look snarky and indifferent. “But he didn’t have time for his precious Daylighter, so instead you called me.”
“I called you?” Simon says. His memories are slowly starting to come back with every word Jace speaks, but he still can’t piece it all together. A lightbulb flicks on in his mind. “Oh yeah! I called you to ask you to lunch.”
His face falls as he remembers a detail about that lunch date that Jace has no idea of. It just so happens that Simon had decided that today was the day he would ask Jace on a date. Like, for real. On a date-date.
“Yes, and if you hadn’t noticed, we’re still in the parking lot of the Hotel Dumort,” Jace says. His voice is slightly patronizing, but Simon knows Jace’s protective walls when he sees them. “Because when I came to pick you up, your dumb ass ran headfirst into the car.”
“Oh,” Simon says slowly.
It’s all coming back to him now. He had been practising his speed when Jace arrived. He obviously hasn’t mastered it yet, if the dent in Jace’s car is anything to go by.
“Sorry,” Simon says sheepishly. He nods to the car, “Will it be expensive to fix?”
Jace shrugs. “With these good looks, it won’t be an issue.”
Simon just rolls his eyes, because he knows very well that Jace won’t use his handsome face to get his car fixed for free, but he will actually end up tipping a bit extra because “the staff were so nice” or “they looked like they were having a hard time” or “you know how the economy is”. That’s just the way Jace is, deep beneath the sarcasm and the inflated ego.
“Well...” he says, glancing at Jace. “What should we do now?”
“’We’ shouldn’t do anything,” Jace says pointedly. “You need to get yourself checked. You could’ve really hurt yourself.”
Simon pats himself down, looking for bruises or any broken bones.
“Looks like I’m fine,” he says cheerfully.
Jace glares at him.
“Seriously, Simon, you could have internal bleeding.”
“I’m dead, remember?” Simon says. He looks down at his feet. Suddenly his courage threatens to leave him. He better get it out before it’s all gone. “About that, uh, lunch....thing. Do you still want to go?”
Jace looks confused. “Why?”
“I was just wondering...” Simon says, looking at Jace’s shoulder instead of his eyes. “Well. We never really, you know, specified what it was?”
At that Jace narrows his eyes. “What do you mean?”
Simon shivers. “Well, uh. You know.”
Jace clearly doesn’t know, so Simon tries to elaborate, but it just comes out as a string of jumbled syllables.
“Simon,” Jace says, and his voice is softer than before. Simon thinks that this Jace, this soft-spoken and almost tender Jace, must be buried under at least five walls of defensiveness and sarcasm on most days. “Just take a breath and say what you want to say.”
That’s a really great thing about Jace, and one that Simon would never in his life have thought of him when they first met. Jace is one of the few people who can really calm Simon down when he’s anxious. He can also trigger that anxiety from time to time, but then again, most things trigger Simon’s anxiety, but very few can soothe it as well as Jace.
So Simon does as he’s told, and takes a deep breath.
I want to date you is what he wants to say.
Even something simple like I want this lunch thing to be a date would work fine. Or a classic like do you want to date me? would be splendid.
But what he ends up saying is, “Well. You know... how the... you know the... Alec. Your brother. Remember when he was engaged and almost married a girl? Yeah. That was weird. Remember when Magnus came to the wedding and then Alec smooched him in front of everyone? Like literally everyone? Wasn’t that just so great? I mean that’s not really the point but, you know, it was great. And I... Well I want to do that. With you.”
Jace is just staring at him, and Simon draws the conclusion that he doesn’t understand what Simon’s talking about. It’s either that or he’s disgusted, and Simon just can’t cope with the second option, so instead he just keeps talking.
“I mean, not get married. I don’t want to marry you, that would be ridiculous. And I don’t want to, like, smooch you in front of your family. But I, uh, you know, I like you. And I want to buy you lunch. As a date. As a romantic style date, with live candles and maybe pasta like in Lady and the Tramp? And... look, you need to just tell me to shut up or I’ll keep talking forever.” He smiles hopelessly and digs his finger nails into his palm.
“Shut up,” Jace says, but it’s not harsh or cruel. It’s soft, and gentle. And it’s followed by Jace grabbing Simon by the lapels of his jacket and smooching him right on the face.
Simon is almost too shocked to reciprocate, but he’s also wanted this for a long, long time, so he forces his body to obey him again and wraps his arms around Jace’s neck.
Jace is soft and warm against him, and the slight stubble on his chin is tickling in the gentlest way. Simon sighs against his lips and kisses him again, and again, and again. And the wonderful thing is that Jace kisses him back. When Simon finally pulls back, just to look at Jace and take in the pink lips and the stunning blush on his cheeks, Jace immediately pulls him back in for another kiss.
He is smiling into the kiss and Simon can’t remember ever seeing Jace so completely content. When they finally part for real, without either of them sighing and going in for just one more kiss, Simon is smiling so wide it’s physically painful.
Jace is the first one to speak. “I hope this isn’t a concussion talking.”
“No, oh no!” Simon reassures him. He puts a hand on Jace’s chest, and suddenly he feels like a heroine in some romantic drama set in the 50s. The only thing missing is his foot lifting when he kisses his man. “I’ve liked you for ages.”
Jace grins. “I’ve liked you for a while too. Ever since, you know, Clary and I decided we’d never be anything but friends.” He pauses. “Okay, maybe a bit before that too.”
Simon beams. “Really?”
Jace nudges him playfully. “Really. I mean, you’re still an annoying vampire who should learn to stay in your lane from time to time, but... you’re also really cute.”
“Well, you’re not perfect either, with your hero complex and... and... your annoying good looks,” Simon says, and he tries to act defensive, but he’s just so damn happy. And when Jace laughs, he just gets even happier.
And so they just stand there for a while, all smiles and softness.
Then Jace says, “But I still think you should have yourself checked out before we go on any date. Even if you’re a vampire you could still be hurt.”
Simon rolls his eyes and is about to argue when Jace cuts him off. “And I won’t take no for an answer. Me and my hero complex won’t rest until I know you’re okay.”
Simon fondly shakes his head and dares a peck on Jace’s lips before nodding. “Alright, you win. But I get to pick the restaurant.”
Jace pouts. “But you’re not even going to eat anything!” Then he smiles. “How about I decide where we eat, and you can pick a movie for our next date?”
And Simon is so intensely happy about the prospect of already having a second date with Jace that he entirely forgets to argue any further.
asdtfyghj i knoooow, like logically, but i have this weird thing when it comes to age.... you should have seen me when i turned 18 and 21, i had a little bit of breakdown. birthdays make my anxiety go, go, go, go, i have no idea why
I think she was referring to the ''worshiping on their fave'' bit. It makes it sound like people have to pick a side as if this is a war lmao. I, a known Magnus stan, would personally take on 15 men armed with nothing but nail clippers for my boy Alec so...
i just woke up, so i’m sorry if i’m blunt, but the fact that you do, doesn’t mean that everyone does. there’s a reason why my following list went down from 250 to 73 this season (where maybe 30 of those blogs are even sh blogs). there are plenty of people in this fandom who do behave like this is some kind of competition - no matter which character they stan - and it’s exhausting and annoying which i’m assuming anon also was since they ranted in my inbox.
