Trying to get daddy Jared to come play with you but he's busy doing ”tour stuff” and is really stressed and accidentally yells at you so you run away and hide under the covers with Teddy
He'd feel so bad immediately after. He'd know that he just fucked up and he needed to make it right, RIGHT THEN.
He'd turn off his work phone (cuz you know damn well he has his personal phone and his work phone). He'd put his personal phone on silent and shoe everyone out of the house.
Jared would make up a tray of your favourite treats with a couple of fresh cut flowers and then he'd bring it with him to find you. He wouldn't just pull back the blanket either; he'd set down the tray and speak quietly, making sure not to raise his voice at you and he would apologise without making any excuses. Then he'd kneel down beside where you were hiding and he would ask for your forgiveness. He'd wait and tell you about the tray of treats, he'd offer to leave it with you and give you some alone time but you'd flip the covers back and shake your head.
"No daddy...don't go."
Jared would nod "okay Angel. We'll do whatever you'd like to do. I've turned off my work phone and my personal phone is on complete silence too... You have me all to yourself for the next few days... I'm gonna make this up to you."
You nod and offer a smile "it hurts me when you shout at me..."
"I'm sorry baby. I shouldn't shout at you." Jared nods. "You did nothing wrong and I'm not angry at you...so I shouldn't have shouted at you."
You nod and crawl over to cuddle up into him "movies and music and just you & me?"
"whatever you'd like, Angel. Anything." Jared holds you close.
Summary: Jared decides it’s time that you, he and your daughter should have a day off.
A/N – This is my submission for @jpadjackles Double Birthday Challenge. The prompt I chose was Banana Pancakes (hence the title). And I had to write Jared for Bronwyn, how could I not.
It was a Wednesday, the middle of the week, and for you one of the busiest days. You had to wake up extra early to get Juliana ready for preschool, and drop her off with a hug and a kiss goodbye. You’d have to take Jared to the set then you’d have to take a u turn then go to your boring office job which had ridiculous hours. From 9 to 8, you were usually exausted and had to thank your babysitter for her overtime – as per usual. You felt like an awful mother. Having someone else other than yourself looking after your daughter, it made your insides clench but you and Jared had searched and checked out all of the best and available babysitters there were.
What made things worse that morning was that it was raining, heavily. You huffed out a sigh and reluctantly removed Jared’s arm from your middle, carefully peeling yourself out of the bed.
Your body clock not so nicely telling you to get out of bed at six every morning. Juliana was a nightmare to get up in the morning so had to kindly deceive her by waking her a little earlier. Knowing that she would go to sleep right after, you went downstairs to get both yours and her bowls of cereal, only pouring milk in your bowl before spooning the concoction into your mouth. It was routine so being half asleep wasn’t a problem.
You heard banging around above you so gathered someone up there was bound to be awake and your daughter was least likely to be the corporate of the noise. It had to be Jared.
More fumbling continued before it abruptly subsided, it was followed by a melody that you had heard before but couldn’t place your finger on. You barely heard Jared’s voice through the ceiling but if you stayed quiet enough, you could make out the faint words flowing through his mouth.
You rarely got to hear his voice but when you did it was a joy to hear, especially when it was accompanied by the strings of his guitar.
As the song progressed, you decided to go upstairs and see what the bang was after you listened to the beautiful song, of course.
Stopping outside the door, you smile as you hear the quiet strumming of the guitar waiting for the next line to be sung. Your daughter is lying over Jared’s outstretched legs, clutching her stomach a few odd tears roll out her cheeks. When you see that your smile instantly dissipates, wanting to know why your baby girl is crying.
You quietly come into the room and kneel by the foot of the bed, placing your hand on her stomach, over her hands where she’s clutching it. Juliana jolts a little but relaxes as soon as she sees that it’s you. Her movement makes Jared stop playing and open his eyes to take a peak at his surroundings.
‘What’s up, sweet pea?’ You ask her, rubbing her stomach lightly.
She carefully rolls to face you, laying her hand over yours now to prevent you from taking it away. She sniffles before answering your question. 'I woke up and my tummy didn’t feel too good. It hurts mommy. So I came to daddy and asked him if he can make it go away.’ She accentuates her point by jutting out her bottom lip into a pout. 'It’s not gone.’
You look over to Jared and see that he has a shy mixed with a cheeky grin on his face. 'Come on, sweet pea, daddy’s silly and didn’t think to give you medicine-’
'No!’ She interrupts. 'I don’t want mecine. I want daddy to keep singing but it’s not working.’
You huff and close your eyes trying to think of an argument but your husband swoops in and says, 'I’ve been playing for a while now Juli, I don’t think my magic guitar has enough powers, maybe if you let mommy give you some medicine, it can power up. Shall we try it?’
'I don’t wike it.’
You press your lips together in an attempt to stop yourself from giggling, you also refrain from sparing a glance at Jared. Your tongue comes out to wet your lips before you retort.
'It’s not liquorice, it’s orange. I made sure that I got you the good tasting one.’
Jared makes the decision to tell you now that he has already called his manager, your workplace and Juliana’s school that none of you are coming in today due to a 'bug’ that has been going around that you all caught.
His smile is back as he shrugs adorably. Why does he have to be so cute? When Juliana hears that she isn’t going to school, she perks up a bit, slightly tightening her grip on your hand, looking at you, trying to gauge your reaction, seeing if it was true.
Any other time, you would have scolded him but today was perfect for a day of relaxation and just lounging about. Where he got the time to do that astonished you but you were grateful for it. You nodded in response and smiled.
You hauled her from the Jared’s legs and into your arms where she clung to you.
'Mama, can daddy make his banana pancakes?’ She mumbled into your shoulder.
Stroking her hair, you answered. 'I’m sure if you ask him, he’ll make them for you, princess.’
Jared raised the strap and put it over his shoulder and began strumming and humming as you all made your way down the stairs.
It was bugging you now. You definitely knew the song. You felt yourself humming along but not quite knowing the exact words.
'Jare, what’s that song your playing?’ You asked as you placed Juliana in her chair. Instead of giving you the title, he started from the beginning and sang the words.
Can’t you see that it’s just raining?
Ain’t no need to go outside…
But, baby, you hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song is meant to keep you
From doing what you’re supposed to.
Waking up too early
Maybe we can sleep in
Make you banana pancakes
Pretend like it’s the weekend now
You bobbed your head along with the music, singing as you realised that it was Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson. Fiddling in the cupboards, you rifled through them in search of the medicine. When you found it you shouted, 'Aha!’
And we could pretend it all the time
Can’t you see that it’s just raining?
There ain’t no need to go outside
But just maybe, like a ukulele
Momma made a baby
Really don’t mind the practice
‘cause you’re my little lady
Lady, lady, love me
'cause I love to lay here lazy
We could close the curtains
Pretend like there’s no world outside
The two of you -you and Jared- sang the lyrics to your poorly daughter. Her head rested upon the cool marble countertop, her legs swinging slowly to the beat and her eyes closed. She truly did have a tummy ache.
Unscrewing the lid, you walked over and gave your little girl a small shake to have her open her eyes. She gracefully rose her head from the island, eyes still sewn together but without being told she opened her mouth and waited for the orange flavoured liquid to enter her mouth.
And we could pretend it all the time
Can’t you see that it’s just raining?
There ain’t no need to go outside
Ain’t no need, ain’t no need, mmm, mmm,
Can’t you see, can’t you see?
Rain all day, and I don’t mind
Seeing her eyes start to droop, you quickly twisted the lid back on and carried her in your arms. You held your finger up to your lips, for Jared’s singing and strumming to slowly fade out.
The last of the song you heard that meant so much to you, when the whole world fits inside of your arms. It reminded you that Jared and Juliana were your whole world and nothing could break the bond the three of you had.
Jared took off the guitar and put it carefully into one of the stands that were randomly scattered across the house, and joined where you and Juliana were lying together, your daughter snuggled into your side.
Before he laid next to you he snapped a few photos and pocketed his phone. 'Maybe the banana pancakes can wait for a while.’
A/N: I’m having feelings after the Padafamily picture, OK? Sue me.
“Daddy are you gonna take me?” your daughter Juliana looked up at her father, wide eyed and inquisitive as always; her hazel eyes a perfect match for his.
Jared smiled his curious smile and shook his head quickly in confusion. “Take you where Jules?”
“To the work,” she said, sticking out her hip and leaning her hand on it just like you did. You laughed from your spot in the kitchen as you watched the scene unfold. For a five year old, she was sassy as hell.
“To my work?” he asked, holding back a laugh.
Jules rolled her eyes, “Yeah Daddy, it’s ‘Take Your Child To Work Day’. So you take your child to your work.”
Jared nodded, pretending to consider her question. He rubbed his chin and hummed. “Huh, well, it just so happens that Mommy has some scenes this week, so we’ll all be going to work tomorrow.”
It took a moment for the information to make it’s way past all the attitude, but finally Juliana understood and a bright smile grew on her little face. She clapped and ran into Jared’s open arms, squealing as he lifted her into the air with ease. “Thank you Daddy!”
It was a long day, especially for an active five year old who was used to roaming around as she pleased. You kept her entertained as best you could with the usual fare, coloring books, YouTube videos ad nauseam, and wrangling whoever you could from the cast to join in an endless game of freeze dance. By noon you were exhausted, but Jules was still going strong; probably thanks to all the candy Mark was passing her behind your back.
You were called to set soon after lunch, and you left your daughter in the capable hands of Marcy, your friend and favorite hairdresser.
Your scene was a quick one: a little argument between Sam and your Angel character. Of course he had to go and mess up your lines by making kissy faces at you when his back was to the camera, so it took a little longer than it should have. When the final cut was called, you slapped your husband hard on the arm and went off to retrieve your daughter from the makeup trailer.
Only, Jules wasn’t in the makeup trailer. Neither was Marcy.
They also were not in Jared’s trailer. Or Uncle Jensen’s. Or by the catering truck. Or anywhere that you could see.
Panic began to rise in your chest and you ran back through the set until you found Jared. He saw the fear in your eyes and he grabbed your shoulders, pulling your focus up to his worried eyes.
“Y/N, what’s wrong?”
You stuttered, out of breath, “I can’t…Jules. I-I don’t know where she is!” Your eyes danced around you, heart pounding against your ribs. Jared pulled you into a quick hug, kissing the top of your head before he pulled away and took your hand.
“She’s fine, we’ll find her,” he said firmly, as he pulled you behind him and took off in search of your daughter.
No one had seen her. No one knew where she was. Security was called and notified, and just about everyone you ran into was put on alert.
“Yes, forty-two inches tall; brown hair, to her shoulders…” Jared gave Juliana’s description to the Security Officer as you paced around behind him, walking the perimeter of the fence that led to the car lot.
Your mind was racing and you chewed on your thumb nail, stomach burning with worry. Just as you were about to lose it completely, you looked passed the fence into the lot and saw movement in one of the stunt cars. You leaned closer, peering between the chain link, and your heart stopped.
“Jared!” you called him over, pointing wildly towards one of four Impalas parked behind the fence.
Jared took off, sprinting towards the car, and you followed behind as fast as you could. All your fear melted away when you looked inside the black car.
Jules was sitting happily on Uncle Jensen’s lap in the driver’s seat, her tiny hands turning the wheel side to side. Her laugh echoed through the lot as Jensen bounced her on his knees, making engine sounds and turning her left and right. Despite your panic and annoyance at the entire situation leading up to it, you had to admit, it was one of the most adorable things you’d ever seen.
“What the hell, man? We’ve been going nuts looking for you guys.” Jared scraped a hand down his face and shook his head in relief.
Jensen laughed and shrugged back at him, “She wanted to learn how to drive. Said it was ‘Teach Your Niece How To Drive Day’. What could I say?”
Jules honked the horn and you laughed. “Of course she did. I told you we were in big trouble with this one Jared.”
Your husband laughed and wagged a long finger at his daughter, “You’re lucky you’re cute, Little Miss.”

MASTERLIST
Holding your sleeping daughter in your arms, you pulled up FaceTime and clicked your husband’s name. It was 8 am in Vancouver and you knew he would be on his way to the airport right now. The call barely had any time to ring before it started connecting to the video chat. You saw Jared’s face pop up and next to his was Jensen’s doing his weird cross-eyed thing.
A big smile grew on your face as you chuckled, seeing your family on the screen. “Hi babe, hi Jensen, and Cliff who I’m sure is driving the car,” you tried to say as loud as you could without waking your daughter.
Jensen shoved his face further into the picture, pushing Jared out of the way, “Show me that cute baby of yours, I can’t get enough of her.”
You turned the phone to Leighton’s face as Jared turned to Jensen saying, “You can’t get enough of her?! I think that’s suppose to be my line dude.”
“Well you may not be able to see her as much right now but at least you get to keep her. Danneel and I always have to give her back,” Jensen said with a pout.
“Well why don’t you and D start having your own babies?” you deadpanned.
Jensen grew quiet, growing a blush in his cheeks, trying to hide his smile, as Jared looked anywhere but the phone. “Jensen Ross! Is there something you need to tell me?!”
Jensen had a grin ear to ear, “I wasn't supposed to tell you! Danneel wanted to be the one to tell you, but yeah, we’re pregnant.”
Your heart swelled for your best friends, “I’m so happy for you guys!”
“If Danneel wasn’t up here right now she would have already told you,” Jensen said, rubbing the back of his neck, “OK after dropping that bomb I’m gonna give you two a minute alone since we’re a few minutes away from the airport.”
Jared quickly stuck his earbuds in so you two could have some sort of privacy. You took a deep breath in and smiled softly at your husband, “Hi.”
“Hi baby,” Jared said as his eyebrows scrunched together, “What’s wrong?”
You pursed your lips together, “Nothing, why would you think something’s wrong?
“You’re sad, don’t lie to me. You’re doing that pouty thing you do when you’re upset.”
“I just miss you and I wish you could come home.”
“I know baby, I’ll be home next weekend. There’s no con and I can spend as much time as I want with you and Leighton.”
“Yeah, it’s just hard to not be up there with you all the time.”
“I know, but I didn’t want you to have to keep traveling with Leighton and be alone when I go away to cons for the weekend. I’ll be home before you know it.”
The boys were pulling up to the airport so you quickly said your goodbyes to all of them and Jared promised to call you when they landed.
---
You were sitting on the sofa, waiting for Jared’s call before you put Leighton down for a nap. She was playing on her mat, rubbing her eyes and yawning. You wanted her to stay awake so Jared could see her this time, but it was getting late and you didn’t want her to be overtired, lord knows no one like an overtired baby. You carried her up to her room and rocked her and sang to her for a bit before you placed her in her crib and headed back down stairs.
You plopped yourself back on the sofa, still waiting for Jared’s call that should have come by now. You turned the tv on to help keep yourself awake; getting up at 5am with a hungry baby called for taking a nap, but not until you talked to Jared. To no avail you fell asleep, waiting for a call that never came.
You woke up to a dip in the sofa, assuming your dog and jumped up to take a nap with you. But then you felt large hands brushing the hair out of your face and a pair of soft lips on your forehead. You turned to see your husband and a bouquet of flowers in his other hand.
You were at a loss for words, you just wrapped your hand around the back of his neck and pulled him down into a passionate kiss.
When the kiss broke, Jared cleared his throat, “Wow if you're going to kiss me like that everytime I surprise you, I have to do this more often.”
You giggled, “I won’t say no to that! What are you doing home?”
“I just thought I’d stop by to see my two favorite girls.”
“Well one of your girls is due to wake up soon, we can get her up early if you want?”
“Nah, let her sleep. I want to spend some quality time with my wife,” Jared said as he leaned down to kiss you, pulling at the hem of your shirt.
It seems as though all kids have the perfect timing. Leightons cries started sounding through the monitor. Jared and you broke the kiss laughing, “You get the kid, I’ll go find some water for these bad boys,” you said, grabbing the flowers
“Ok,” you said as you turned toward the kitchen, when Jared grabbed your arm and twirled you into his chest, whispering in your ear, “We’ll finish this later.”
Those four words sent chills down your spine and all over your body as Jared bounced up the stairs with the world’s biggest smirk on his face, knowing exactly what he just did to you.

“So, what we’ve all been wondering: how is Y/N and your baby girl?”
The fan’s question had Jared smiling like an idiot. Anything that made him think about his new daughter put a huge grin on his face. “Thanks for asking, so much. Y/N is amazing as ever, I mean is there anything bad I could say about the love of my life and mother of my children?” The crowd applauded and clapped, and Jared smiled at the love they were showing him and Y/N.
“As for our newest little bundle of joy…” Jared looked down at his lap, his emotions about to get the best of him.
“Look what you did!” Jensen interjected, automatically knowing that Jared needed a moment to gather his thoughts. “Now he’s gonna get all emotional!”
The crowd laughed at Jensen’s teasing, and Jared fake cried into his hands for a moment.
“No, but seriously, guys…” he began again. “She’s beautiful. And perfect. And just – I can’t even put into words how amazing it is to be the father of a wonderful baby girl.”
Jared looked over at Jensen before continuing. “Of course y’all know I’ve got two boys already, and Ackles has told me how it would be to have a little girl of my own…” He clapped Jensen on the shoulder twice in thanks. “But it’s just incredible. It’s different having a girl from having boys. She’s precious in a way that they aren’t, she’s just –“
“Okay, okay,” Jensen interrupted again. “If we let him talk more, he’s never gonna stop gushing.” The fans laughed again, as did Jared.
Jensen continued, “From someone who won’t talk your ear off, here are the facts: Y/N and baby are doing great, they were released from the hospital a couple days before we flew here, and they’re both beautiful.” Jensen noticed that Jared was looking at his phone as he kept talking.
“Danneel and the Ackles clan are over at Jared’s house helping out while we’re here, and as soon as we’re done this evening we’re flying back so that Jared can fall asleep with her in his arms.” The crowd awed and clapped again, loving the image that Jensen sketched for them.
Jared raised the mic to his mouth once more. “They say a picture speaks a thousand words, so here ya go.” He held his phone up toward the camera, so the camera girl could zoom in on the image he was showing. Y/N was laying in her hospital bed, minutes old baby in her arms, wrapped in a pink blanket. Jared was perched on the edge of her bed, looking down proudly at his wife. Tom and Shep were peeking over the side of the bed, eager to see their new sister.
The applause from the crowd filled the room, and Jared’s grin got even bigger. He finally pulled his phone away, saying proudly, “That’s my baby girl.”
