Happy Daddy!DeanCas Monday (part two)
Since I got such a good response with the first set, here’s part two of last week’s post for Daddy!DeanCas Monday. Just a reminder; these are all spots taken from a RP I did with notyourmartyr , where Cas, having eased Dean’s nightmare, is able to share his dream since they’re still linked by the Angel’s Grace.
Dean giving a quick, harmless smack behind John’s head; he called Mary-Jo a show-off because she helped clear the table. Sibling rivalry transcends dreams, apparently.
John immediately stopping because he knows he might not get any of the pie Papa made if he keeps going.
John having trouble pronouncing “Cream” when asking for toppings for his piece of pie. He says “Li’l ceam, li’l honey.”
Dean making him go over the enunciation by repeating nice and slow, even growling the “Rrr” sound.
Dean pouting because Cas didn’t want any cream on his piece of pie. Even if he knows Cas isn’t aware that, in the recurring dream, he made the whipped cream himself and that the honey is from the bees Cas keeps in the garden.
Mary-Jo calling Dean out on telling Cas that he’s fine, even if he isn’t, telling her daddy that they aren’t supposed to be keeping secrets.
Cas and Mary-Jo conspiring in enochian, just to tease Dean a little. Even if in the end, Cas puts a generous amount of cream on his pie. And it’s delicious
Dean and Mary-Jo staying in the kitchen to do the dishes, talking about practicing her swordsmanship with boffers since Aunt Charlie is visiting tomorrow. After all, like Dean said, she can’t be the Queen’s lady in waiting if she can’t protect her.
Cas going upstairs to start running a bath, followed by his son. His little shadow.
John telling Cas he needs to show him something and taking his papa to a secret room, hand sticky from dessert grabbing at his father’s. The room is a nursery, walls half painted, crib resting against the wall; there’s still work to be done on it. Dean had mentioned that sometimes, there was a third child in his dream.
Cas painting his hand blue and pressing it with the other handprints on the wall in the corner of the nursery. Two greens, one small, one big, and one purple.
John trying to touch the wet paint off the wall - of course. Cas having to coax him not to with promise that Uncle Sammy and Aunt Charlie are gonna put theirs tomorrow.
John whining and pleading because he can’t unbuckle his denim jumper by himself. Papa Cas coming to the rescue and helping him out before bathing him.
Cas helping John with his bath. Playing with toys and bubbles, the child fluently speaking Enochian, French, Latin and English, babbling something about robots. But frankly, Cas doesn’t understand much of it, even if he knows those four languages.
Cas having to make his son sit down in the tub every minute or two because the kid will not stay still for the life of him, always climbing up to his knees or feet.
Cas being extra careful while rinsing shampoo out of John’s hair.
John attempting a low, gruff voice when saying he’s Batman – he’s got the pajamas to show for it.
Mary-Jo saying she likes taking her bath in her parents’ bathroom, because it smells like them.
Cas and Mary-Jo curling up in her bed for storytime. She has a Princess Belle nightgown. With roses on it.
She wants to hear The Snow Queen. In Enochian. And as soon as her Papa starts telling her the story, which he knows by heart, she closes her eyes, little fist clenched on the fabric of his shirt.
Dean suggesting stories to John : "So, what story do you want tonight, little man? The one about how Uncle Sammy and I once took down a bunch of clowns? Or one about Papa, like the time he and Uncle Crowley almost ruined the world?"
Dean referring to Crowley as “Uncle Crowley”
But the kid wants to hear about Dean and Cas’ first kiss. And for Dean to sing his favorite lullaby – Goodnight Demonslayer.
Dean starting the story of his and the Angel’s first kiss : "A long time ago, Daddy was cursed for the millionth time in his life, and things were really hard...”
Dean taking Cas out for a walk in their garden once the kids are asleep. Flowers, fruits and veggies, bees. Even an apple tree.
The pure bliss in Cas’ heart when he realizes they both want the same thing for the future. All this, together.
Dean telling Cas he loves him for the first time. He hasn’t been able to outside of the dream yet, even if he’s so desperately in love. But despite that, hearing those words, even in a dream, is music to the Angel’s ears.
Dean telling Cas he wants nothing more than to spend the rest of his life with him. To grow old with him by his side.
Castiel nuzzling against Dean when the dream starts to fade away, feeling his heart sink so deep when he thinks of their children being swallowed up by the thick grey mist that’s taken over the scenery and their home.
Cas waking up in a gasp, heart pounding in his chest, blue eyes teary, whine stuck in his throat. He just can’t get the smell of their children’s hair out of his head.
Dean soothing Cas with kisses and soft words to his ear, promising him he’s right here. That the children are safe in his mind.
Cas knowing that his home is with Dean, and even if he can’t have what they dream of yet, what they do have is perfect for now.
