{ ☆ } Oh... Newton hadn’t expected for Fulton to return quite so soon. Hands pause over the machine he had been planning on tinkering helping out with, the boy’s body tense as if he’d been caught in the middle of doing something Wrong... Which isn’t too far from the truth, to be honest. Although rather than focus on the fact that the overzealous chick had been about to mess with the delicate internal workings of the mechanism, Fulton seems more concerned that he isn’t wearing safety goggles. But, like with his current action, Newton has a GOOD reason for this apparent oversight... “But Grandfather, they feel... uncomfortable.”

He hates having to wear bulky safety goggles over his already-oversized glasses.

“Plus, they’re so... filthy,” Newton adds, looking at the tired and worn goggles with obvious distaste. Beak scrunches up at the sight of the oil-stained, scuffed safety measure; truly a pair of goggles that have seen their fair share of action... Just NOT by him. “Besides, the bulkiness would obstruct my field of vision and those scratched lenses would definitely impair my sight. How safe could those goggles really be if they hinder my ability to see what I’m doing?” He’s only partially exaggerating in an effort to get out of having to wear that cumbersome thing. Arms crossing and gaze lowering, he sulkily says, “I’m not planning on using a blowtorch or anything of that nature anyway...” Well, unless he NEEDS to.

Is he being unreasonable? Yes, obviously... Newton is more than aware of this... But those goggles are just so GROSS and BOTHERSOME. What are the chances that he actually runs into a situation where he needs them, anyway? He’ll take his (very good) chances... { ☆ }
