Megamind: Thunderstruck
(If possible… read while listening to AC/DC, Thunderstruck haha) A white flash struck across the dark sky. A loud crackle followed. Megamind grinned as he gazed out the window of the abandoned observatory. "This is perfect, Minion. The conditions are perfect." Minion peered over the large motor. "Just say the word," he said as he gripped the lever. Megamind looked at his watch. Distance: 600 miles. "Wait for it." Another thunderstrike. 452 miles. "Wait for it." Crackle. 203 miles. "Wait for it." The arrow of the electromagnetic radiation detector swung to the right. Another thunderstrike. 16 miles. "Now!" Minion pushed down on the lever while Megamind ran over to stand on a red X that was marked on the floor. Megamind raised his hands in the air and grinned. His coat trailed after him, adding to his stature. Behind him, a golden metal rod descended from the ground. In the center of the rod was a perfectly shaped brown sphere. As it moved, the ceiling opened, giving way to the rising sphere and the falling cascade of rainfall. It was an explosion of sound and light. The lightning strike hit the sphere and traveled downwards. Megaminds figure was covered in a silhouette as the loud crackle covered the sound of droplets crashing onto the floor. The moment was over as fast as it had come. Megamind whipped over to his right where a little boy stood wearing an oversized face shield. "Well?” Megamind asked. The boy scratched his ankle with the edge of his other foot. "Can I go to sleep now?" Megamind's face fell but then he excitedly signaled Minion to lower the sphere. "Hold on," he said "you still haven't tried the final product." "It's touched by the gods themselves." Minion said in a sing-song voice. Megamind turned and grabbed the smoking sphere with a tong. He placed it on a table that was at eye level with the boy. Megamind handed the tongs to him. "All you have to do is tap it." The boy grabbed the tong and tapped the sphere. Nothing happened. "Harder." He did as told but still nothing happened. "Here, let me try it." Megamind took the tongs and hit the sphere as hard as he could. Nothing happened. "Minion!" "On it." Minion walked over to them. He raised his metal fist and slammed it onto the sphere. Slowly, chocolate began to gush out of it and the sphere itself started to melt, leaving only half of it standing. "Ha!" He jumped and clapped Minion over the shoulder before pointing at his son. "You can't tell me that's not better than your mother's melting chocolate ball.” "I don't know… it takes a long time." He looked at his son in exasperation. “Yes but,” He threw his hands in the air again and spun. “lighting! It uses lightning from the sky." He turned back to his son and gave him a look. "Your mom just uses hot water.” "Very uninspired." Minion said, nodding. "And that’s what she calls me.” Megamind said with a snort. They both looked at the boy expectantly. “Uh….” The boy grabbed a spoon that was on the table and scooped some of the chocolate into his mouth. “Oh!” He got on his tippy toes. “It’s white chocolate! How did you make it look brown?” “……That’s what you ponder on.” Megamind glanced at Minion who just shrugged. He signed and placed a hand over his face. “Okay, where done here. You're right, it’s past your bedtime. We should-” He stopped mid-sentence when he saw the boy through his fingers. He wasn’t paying attention to his dad, too busy stuffing his mouth with as much chocolate as he could. Megamind smiled. “I guess we could wait a bit longer.”
