(gay supervillain voice) I'm gonna walk to your house and kiss you and then you'll see. THEN YOU'LL ALL SEE
thanks for responding when jd vagueblogged abt wanting a campaign where e and I could play cirrus and brontide. I love oops all dwarves so so so much and it is such a joy and a pleasure to play with you every other week, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to realize this character who's been living in my head for like a year and a half. and I get all fluttery whenever you talk abt sewing victorian garb for me so I can be the dandy fop I've always dreamed of, and that's not a feeling I've felt in a long time, and it's really nice 🥺
hello! i have a question regarding transcripts whenever you have the spoons to answer. long story short, a friend and i are working on an audio-drama/scripted podcast, and with every episode released, we'd include an edited version of the script. i was going to cut out director's/actor's notes (primarily things like backstory notes or character intent that are going to be fleshed out and explored in later episodes), but leave in audio cues (like running, klaxons, etc), (1/2)
(2/2) voice cues (like the tone the line is spoken in/crosstalk) and descriptions of whatever music we have. is there anything else you can think of that i might include so the transcript feels as close to the audio as possible? I personally struggle a lot with auditory processing, so it's very important to me that our prospective audience can also enjoy it, even if they can't listen to it, but I'm still really new to the whole descriptive text deal. thank you in advance!
all of that sounds really good! the only things i can think of that you may have already considered are:
mentioning when the tone is sarcastic. You said tone of speech but i wanna emphasize sarcasm because it can be difficult for many folks to pick up on.
mentioning when a statement is directed at a specific person, when it’s contextually relevant, of course--like if there’s a big group of people talking and then something someone says is directed at just one person. i’ve found this is something that may be obvious in the audio itself, but doesn’t always translate to text, so noting it is a good idea!
otherwise it seems like you’ve really thought everything out. :)
making this a separate text post so people who don’t wanna see the gifset again can see my response :D

i respect your opinions; i shouldn’t promote my favorite show this way, i do have my own ulterior motives because i would love to gain viewers for b99 because it’s got tragically low ratings. i suppose i was trying to make the point that it shouldn’t be automatically blacklisted purely based on the fact that it’s about cops.
i clearly have a different view of the definition of propaganda. in my head, propaganda is fear mongering, ie, anti-semetic (read nazi) or anti-japanese (read japanese internment camps) and similar glorification and acceptance of abhorrent behaviors and beliefs. i recognize that in this political climate, cops shouldn’t be glorified in any way. simultaneously, i believe it’s important to see good cops (i’m sorry to stick to that good cop/bad cop viewpoint but i do believe the 99th precinct’s detectives are good guys with strong moral compasses) calling out a bad system. i would like to point out that holt’s goal has always been fixing the corruption and immoral practices in the NYPD by rising in the ranks; i equally respect terry for refusing to let the blatant racism of a beat cop get swept under the rug for political reasons.
the corruption the show focuses on primarily regards superior officers (the chief of police, the commissioner, a widely respected - ugh - FBI agent, another respected - double ugh - lieutenant, a deputy chief, a prison warden on a power trip). in my head, bad cops are usually beat cops - people who figured hey let’s do six months of training so we can have a lifelong power trip. i recognize that just about everyone instinctively feels guilty and anxious when they see a cop car in their rearview mirror and have always figured that officers get a major thrill out of watching traffic slow to a crawl based on their presence on the road.
personally, i don’t have a problem with detectives, generally speaking. but your typical police officer - and i’ve had more than one very negative experience dealing with them based on my gender, my skin color, my age, automatic assumptions that the company i kept made me guilty by association - is as likely to be an asshole as a decent person. possibly more likely.
i see where you all would consider the gifset to be pure propaganda. my way of looking at the world is obviously different from yours, and that’s entirely okay. brooklyn 99 isn’t a perfect show. but it is a show about a single precinct composed of detectives with pure motives. it’s worth noting that there are 50+ precincts in the NYPD (77, according to a march 2017 article), and that when they do interact with another precinct, the detective from said precinct plants fake evidence. the 99th precinct is a tiny part of a horrifically bigger, screwed up system. it doesn’t represent the NYPD or the police/justice system at large.
anyway. we all have our opinions, but it would be great if we expressed them in more positive ways. i appreciate feedback and commentary and constructive criticism. i spend time and thought on these gifsets, i’m a sensitive chick who takes things too personally, which makes tumblr a dangerous place for me to post original material that makes any kind of bigger-picture statement.
i probably shouldn’t bother responding to the negativity, but i’m not a person above accepting said feedback/commentary/constructive criticism. so, please don’t mock or invalidate something i’ve created for the purpose of representing a fandom i adore and, yes, trying to sway non-viewers. it’s not my place to do that, i doubt it will sway the opinions of people who hold the opinions stated by the above blogs and others, but it’s hard for me not to fight for a show with such an uncertain future. also, i’m not trying to call out those people who commented negatively by tagging you guys - i just want you to know i’m directly addressing your words.
can i get everything ending in 9 for my precious little meow meow, please? :3c
Absolutely You Can
9. if someone gave them flowers, what would they do with them?
he would not make a big deal of them at First but would love it lmao. he would try to keep them alive as long as is practical, but when that stops being a super viable option he would take them and make lil pressings of them hehe :)
19. do they see patterns in the world around them? do they point them out to people?
i think he would. he tries to be observant and keep an eye out for just. Stuff that could be bad news. so i think he would notice patterns but i dont think he would point them out!
29. if they wear any, where did they get their jewelry?
they love jewelry lmao they like being fancy and dressing nice even if they dont get the opportunity. he has a small collection of earrings, most nicked off of people they were stealing from by his boyfriend pre campaign. he has has a gold chain that he uses either as a necklace that he can attach things to or (his favorite) uses it to decorate his horns. he doesnt have any currently but. he loves hirn jewelry as well its his fav kind of jewelry
39. do they keep working even when their wrists cramp? if they do, do they give themselves a break when the work is done?
absolutely not lmao before question was a criminal he worked in hard manual labor so. question is very accustomed to working through that sort of thing lmao. they might give themselves a break after but like. they make sure their friends rest first and make sure everything is done before doing so

On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?
Matches and dogtags, mainly. Never goes anywhere without his matches.
Does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing?
LESS. He hates the heat, and with him being from Russia, he prefers the cold.
Is your character preoccupied with money or material possession? Why or why not?
Maybe? He really likes his axe. And his lights.
In what ways does your character compare themselves to others? Do they do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism?
He, sometimes, gets upset that he’ll never be ‘normal’, IE: a walking lethal weapon, and he’s sometimes comparing how he looks and acts to other people. He’s self conscious about SOME things, but not a lot.
How quick is your character to suspect someone else? Does this change if they are close with that person?
He doesn’t suspect someone TOO quick. He’s smart enough to figure out who’s done what pretty quickly, and even then, he’s still questioning for what reason.
What does your character find repulsive or disgusting?
Not a lot. He’s seen some shit and done some things himself, so he’s numb to a lot.
How does your character behave around people they like?
Rasmus doesn’t like too many people. But, if he were to, he’d be.....a lot more laid-back than what he is right now. He’d be pretty happy, too.
How does your character treat people in service jobs?
He might be an asshole, but he’s not that much of an asshole. He knows how it feels when people in these kinds of jobs are treated poorly, and it makes him sad.
What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?
He believes in nothing, and feels like he’ll just be walking through a blank space forever.
