I’m going to ramble about my current inquisitor below
Conall Trevelyan (Connie to pretty much anyone who knows him) was born in Ostwick in 9:8 with Killian Trevelyan (Trev to his merc group) following shortly after. They were the 4th and 5th children of Bann Trevelyan and his wife and were their last children.
Most of their childhood was spent together getting into trouble (Connie showed his skill for sneaking around early) and running with a group of cousins. While they were well-educated in etiquette and manners no one expected either of them to become Bann and so they got only a cursory education in the running of the family estates.
The Ostwick Trevelyans are mostly known for their horse-breeding. Ostwick horses aren’t pretty Antivan runners, they’re war-horses. Born and bred to carry men in heavy armor across battlefields. A common insult from the other banns is that the Trevelyans are ‘glorified horse-masters’ despite the fact that their line can be traced back to the Imperium. (Also ignoring that in Nevarra their line has the ear of King Markus and his advisors.)
When Conall is 14 he becomes engaged to Sophia Trevelyan (Of the Nevarran Trevelyans) and absolutely refuses to even read the letters she sends him. It’s around this time that Killian is openly scornful towards the idea of marriage and sows the seeds that later cause him to leave Ostwick. The pair try to ignore the future but it begins to creep up on them. Killian and Conall embarrass their Great-Aunt Lucille at the opera and are barred from going to the Tourney the next year.
When the pair are 16 Killian is discovered in bed with a Chevalier named Marius. Conall, with the help of Sean and his mother convince the Bann to simply send the twins away and not disown Killian. This is the summer in which the Ansburg Incident* occurs and is the last summer Killian spends as an official son of Ostwick.
At 17 Killian runs away to Orlais with Ser Marius. Killian is declared dead by the Bann and Conall closes off from his father, fearing similar retribution should his own dalliances with men come to light.
From 18-23 Conall and Killian occasionally meet in inns around the Free Marches (Conall having taken up a role as a diplomat given his natural propensity to it.) At 23 Conall is married to Sophia and the pair go to live in Nevarra.
Side note- Up until his stag night Conall’s Worst Night Ever was the Ansburg Incident. After his stag night it was his second worst. Trevelyans have a tradition of taking the groom out, getting him drunk, and leaving him stranded on a boat on the water. The story goes that it started with a reluctant bridegroom who was found rowing away from Ostwick. His cousins dropped anchor, took the sail, and left him floating at sea for the night.
Conall’s stag night had him drinking a bottle of some of the worst wine he’d ever drank and sleeping in the bottom of a leaky boat.
Conall and Sophia’s marriage is... Rocky to say the least. They don’t get along, they hardly know one another, and they constantly bicker. Killian comes by about a year into their marriage and, much to Conall’s annoyance, hits it off with Sophia. Sophia is a passionate woman, she’s a person of high highs and low lows and Conall finds it aggravating. The pair attempt to reconcile after Killian leaves with his merc company and manage at least an amiable acquaintance.
Conall enjoys his time in Nevarra, he’s allowed to run a small estate and learns more about leading and business then he ever thought he would. He grows close to his brother-in-law and (despite claiming he’s still an Ostwick man at heart) grows fond of Nevarra. (Cassandra’s indifference towards it annoys him a little)
Then Sophia meets Matthias and the two begin an affair. Conall is hurt, although not surprised, it’s not like they’d been happy together.
In the end it’s Conall who suggests having a child, just one heir to cement the alliance and then the pair can live separate lives. They’d not be the first couple to do it. The last year of their marriage is the best, Conall and Sophia becoming friends and their bickering turning friendly.
Except it doesn’t go according to plan because Sophia ends up dying not a day after their daughter is born. Conall, listening to the healers saying if she makes it through the night she’ll have a chance, panics. Begs Sophia not to leave him alone to raise their daughter.
She’s named Niamh Genevieve Trevelyan.
When Niamh is 4 Conall withdraws from running his estate and returns to Ostwick after 7 years in Nevarra.
Hardly two years after returning he volunteers to go to the Divivne’s Conclave, trying to keep peace between what remains of the Ostwick’s Circle and their templars all the way. Killian’s merc company is hired to protect them and the twins meet their older sister Sorcha.
Then shit goes down in the Conclave and either Killian or Conall is the Inquisitor. (Killian is the canon run but I’m enjoying Conall’s too)
