dansko has some suprisingly cute options. also munro shoes, i think their boots are pretty cool and they come in a huge range of sizes

never heard of either of these brands before, but these flats and these booties are decent on the dansko side, and then i like these, these, and these on the munro side!

what do you think of your YRU shoes, quality/comfort-wise? i've been thinking of getting a pair but they seem very pricy for being made of polyurethane and eva foam... plus you can't return sale items (at least on their website)!

i haven’t had my pairs for very long, and i don’t wear them on a daily basis so take that into account w/ this, but in terms of quality i can tell you i think they feel nice, like nicer than $20 platforms you’d get off of aliexpress or w/e. BUT i have seen a lot of folks saying that like...some of the more extreme platforms have given them trouble, like some folks w/ sky hi qozmos have had the platforms break which fucking Sucks and i would be devastated. i think the lower platform shoes are probably safer, since just like from an engineering standpoint the qozmos are crazy extreme but i 100% agree with you--for what they’re made out of, they should be nicer.

like, i got some glittery white qozmos when i bought the pairs i have, and i was kind of disappointed to find out that the soles didn’t have glitter actually in them, but were just some normal white qozmos with glitter paper wrapped around the outside and glued down...i mean when i got mine they were hella on sale and probably only cost me like $30 or something at the time (it was a closing sale from a while ago on a retail shop...icr the exact cost but i was able to get like 3 pairs of YRUs for under $100 or so?) but for like their $120 or so full price i just didn’t expect them to kind of be a well done modpodge project....

in terms of comfort, i think they’re pretty good! i can handle wearing them for long periods of time without any issues or anything, though i do worry about their longevity and if they’ll start wearing out and the rods inside the platforms poking through the shoe as they wear down.

i think if i ever got another pair, i would probably not get another pair of platform sneakers, just because i think their more traditional shoes (like their boots, or heels) should be a bit hardier in terms of their construction and not made out of eva foam like some of my $20 aliexpress platforms are, haha.

so i’m with you, for sure.

i’ve never seen anything on their website go higher than like XL before, so this is the first time they’re carrying anything plus sized. but i mean a huge amount of that blame can also be placed on literally every alternative brand under the fucking sun that only goes up to size L sooooo.
