         red puff jacket is ditched      in  what  he  assumes  is  the  house  party’s  equivalent  of  the  coat  room.       marty’s  done  this  because  of  the  endless  mocking  he  got  for  wearing  it  in  1955,    and  he  doubts  it’ll  earn  him  any  points  on  the  opposite  end  of  the  spectrum,   aka  2019.        and  while  he’s  here  laying  low,   trying  to  act  like  a   NORMAL   teenager,   he  wants  people  to  like  him.           “  -  do  you  need  a  refill  ?   “          he  asks  the  girl  beside  him.        it’s  a  tone  deaf  question,   but  marty’s  having  trouble  hearing  over  the  bass.

it was without a doubt, the nicest thing veronica’s said to him since he’s met her & maybe that’s why it gives him pause. so used to their rapid fire back & forths, the sentiment actually stops him in his tracks. his gaze falls from her face to his things scattered across the table between them. double, triple, & quadruple checking the items before tossing them in his bag without another word.
