Looking straight at the void was hard, scary and hurt like hell, but it was the only way to do things, to face them, to get over them. Because only facing the absence she would feel the darkness embracing her, protecting her, grounding her.
She knew it was stupid. Not the void. Not the darkness. But the fears.
Not being enough: not strong enough, not smart enough, not pretty enough, not skilled enough, not powerful enoug, not good enough.
“But you are enough,” it was a soft whisper on her hair, but it was all that she needed. Even if they didn’t agree on that, the words soothed her soul and steadied her heart, “you are for me”.
And that was it, because that was all she cared about. As long as she was enough for her, the rest of the world could wait. Because yes, it hurt not to feel loved by the people she loved, to feel that their shoes were too big for her, but letting that damage, those feelings, get to her core would be catastrophic... And that was why her heart didn’t belong to her anymore, that was why she had gifted it to the other woman to always take care of it. She would trust her everything: her life, her heart, her soul and her destiny. She knew the woman would protect them, she knew she was safe with her.
That was why she was looking at the void, seeing how all her negative emotions spiraling on it, how they backed when the dark energy reached them, how they recognized they had nothing to do there, that they were not welcomed anymore.
Now she knew it, now she understood. Even if she wasn’t enough for the world, she was enough for her, because they were perfect for each other. They had been made to fit like to pieces of a puzzle, they would always match, no matter how, when or where, because what pulled them together was much more than human, much more than magic. It was nature, it was chaos, it was destiny. But, despite how it is called, it doesn’t mind, because there’s no force, human or divine, able to break them apart.
