i know im going against your last anon but seeing the results on your happiest fob album poll has me genuinely scratching my head bc happiness is not an emotion i associate with srar at all. like for me srar has always been about rage? like a short of rebellious teenage rage??? or that low deep anger you feel when you suddenly realize you grew up and the world that you're living in isn't the same as before and you're fighting both to keep that world and trying to claw in your place in the new world. idk. does that make sense???? (tho i can see the angle anon was talking abt wrt the band. but even then i wouldve picked abap. they were riding the wave of the comeback and the hype of returning and new fans. and i think that shows in how upbeat and danceable abap is. even tho i still think abap feels more like a fleeting type of happiness) (idk idk sry about this ramble i just keep thinking about this and coming to the realization that none of the albums are really happy 😭😭😭)

omg dont be sorry i love the rambling i love hearing ppls thoughts on stuff like this!!! seeing srar as rebellious rage is so interesting and i really think i do get where you're coming from and the more i've thought about srar being my instinctive answer, the more i've thought about how that kind of hopeful (to me), rebellious spirit just can come across as Happiness even if it. isn't fully? like, it's highly possible none of the albums are Really happy so the closest emotion people can associate with it is that like... fight for the future, rebellion, cautious hope so. your interpretation of srar absolutely makes sense, and that's just my take on why people interpret that as 'happy' in the sense of the album itself. tho also absolutely agree about abap but it's interesting to Me that happiness is very fleeting in the sense that its trying to rebuild a sort of happiness or. contentment? forgiveness? in the face of regret and remorse and painful nostalgia so. perhaps no fob album is purely actually happy fkjsndkfs

im so glad you like my dumb tags <3 and you're so right for bringing up fake out & sgrn specially. imho i think there's this narrative tread that runs all through fake out until flu game (and is later picked up back on smfs title record) that's just the point of the album??? like it's fitting they're in the middle of it bc that's the *point*. that sense of sorrow and mourning for missed chances but ultimately acceptance for the past that can't be changed and joy in the present thats at the core of smfs. like that egt ask you reblogged. and i forgot to put this on my tags but imho i think that's why that bit from reality bites is there right in the middle & why they opened every tourdust show with it. sometimes all you can do is find joy in the little bits of life in spite of how bleak everything else is or seems to be (also also i can't remember the exact quote but i know there was a show when pete said something along the lines of thanking the fans for turning such a sad album into something so special and that's it. that's the point. literally finding the glow inside the darkness. God i need to lie down. so much for stardust the album that you are)

Hey Daeluin! Sorry this took me a second to get to, but yes I love what you are saying regarding the theme running through from fake out in the middle of the album, I absolutely agree with that, and knowing that Pete has said they are very intentional with track order, I think as you said that's very much *the point* of how those songs are put together. I was juuuuuust thinking about how well the reality bites clip fits into the album the other day too and although I don't always let it play through it's such a good little bit of glue bringing it all together there. Imo I feel like SGRN would have fit a bit better after it but thats just me being picky really.

When I listen to SMFS I often think too of the line from save rock and roll, I need that dark in a little more light, just like finding the glow in the darkness, that darkness and light aren't separate but that life is about accepting their coexistance. It's interesting if you think about mania as the preceding album because there's a lot of frustration and tension and a feeling of fighting against something, whereas stardust has the feeling of acceptance and letting everything else fall away that you've been fighting against. Anyways I think I may have lost the plot a bit here, but thanks for the ask as always!

It's almost Halloween time so once again (like every year XD) I was tempted to doodle my favorite OTP.(I've been tweaking them a little bit in my mind in preparation for restarting part 3 of "A Tale of Tragedy".)
