things that remind me of you: slightly crooked teeth and calloused hands. that nervous tick people have where they jiggle one leg really fast up and down. up and down, up and down, up and down. neon yellow, that ugly highlighter color. makeshift laser tag and hide and seek. when it's dark outside, i can still see you glowing up the whole fucking block. when it's dark outside, you can't see my face. black cats. white cats. cats in general. the kind of laughter that's completely soundless. you're just wheezing air, doubling over your knees. a black and white silent movie. an off-key b-flat. doing cartwheels in the old high school parking lot and calling it parkour. mother's plump, warm arms, circling round your waist smelling like home. romantic-comedies minus the romance. minus the comedy. so, a melodrama then. a low-budget indie film in which the lead doesn't find what she's looking for. finishing the last line of a book. turning the page and seeing white. asking yourself, "is that it?"

probably tell her find her own taste in music and fashion and just be confident in that, and then i’d show her how to style her hair bc honestly up until about junior year of high school i had no idea how to deal with my hair and i just like put it up in buns or braids all the time, also i’d tell her that having ur hair parted in the middle looks prettier that you’d expect
