Hazbin rant!!! Todays topic, writing issuessss:
(I apologise beforehand if I make any spelling mistakes, my keyboard isn't set to an English autocorrect and I'm too lazy to double check everything rn. Also TRIGGER WARNING FOR A SMALL MENTION OF SA IN THIS RANT) :)
Y'know what's crazy to me? I love Hazbin Hotel, but I am ABSOLUTELY willing to admit that the writing is bad. Horrible, in fact. I enjoy the plot and the characters. That's why I like the show. But the way it's handled a lot of the time, hello? Crazy stuff, I have a couple of examples for consideration:
Season 1, the most known plothole: Vaggi not knowing that Angels can be killed by angelic steel. Could probably easily be fixed by making it tie into supposed treason which turns an angel into a sinner and could've explored what indoctrination can do to a person to explain why she didn't know, but nooo
All of the SA that is basically used for jokes while only Angel's is really being taken seriously
Husk in specifically season 2 episode 3. He would not have sided with Charlie, amd even if he did, he would've mostly blamed her for the train thing (but would've still been slightly mad at Angel for the self-sacrifice thing)
Wasn't really going to critique character design, but a design can say a lot, so here we go: every man being built like a toothpick. Especially Husk and Saint Peter. Like, you can make Saint Peter gay as shit, why should I care, but like.. why does he look like that though? Not every gay man looks like that. And Husk is just... come on. Really?
Another common critique on s2, but Charlie not helping Lucifer while he is actively bleeding out is *crazy*. She did check on him very briefly, but she didn't really do much after that.. like girl.
Those are my main writing complaints, if anyone else has any, feel free to add on, I love reading rants, personally :)
P.S. : while I am upset from a Huskerdust shipper standpoint, Angel going back to Val makes perfect sense and Husk not forcibly stopping him is beautiful to me, because it shows how empathetic Husk really is. He knows forcing Angel to stay would be stripping his choice away, which is exactly the opposite of what Angel wants.
