so i spent most of ffxv waiting for this naga scene to pay off. and i guess it sort of did? but prom’s story and the reveal of him being an mt was definitely one of the most underwhelming parts of the game for me.

It’s too late. If only we could have come sooner, they keep repeating themselves. It’s always too late. Noctis always understand, comes too late. His father, Luna and now… Prompto. They arrive and after hours in this hell on earth, they found him. Prompto had turned into a daemon. Black liquid coming from under his skin, his voice, his usual sweet and cheerful voice, there is nothing human in it anymore. Noctis freezes and then he screams, he screams and the two others are too much in pain too to calm him down. Ardyn, somewhere else, laughs. Noctis reaches a hand toward his best friend but found himself scared when said best friend comes closer. “Not good enough…” Prompto, no, the daemon speaks. He keeps repeating himself, he keeps repeating these three words and Noctis wants to shout that he is wrong, that he is, was, good enough. Instead, he keeps screaming and crying. “Noctis…” The Prince falls into silence when hearing his own name. The daemon looks at him and he can see it clearly, the tears falling onto his cheeks, melting with the dark liquid and the blood. Noctis’ heart drops when he sees its smile. He rushes toward it despite Ignis’ warnings. He hugs it. The daemon doesn’t move. “Kill… me…” That’s all it says. Noctis refuses, he cries silently and slowly puts a hand on its cheek. It is Prompto, but he can’t afford himself to think about him as if he was a human, as if he was alive. It is quick. Noctis’ sword appears, and he stabs the daemon, a muffled cry coming from both their mouths. Then, Noctis finally speaks. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.” It is still smiling. Noctis closes his eyes. It can feel it fade away. “E… Ever … at your … side…” He never heard those words but they feel familiar. He hugs tighter. Then it vanishes.

(click title for the song that inspired this) Smn mentioned why Omen-Trailer!Noctis n Magitek!Prompto isn’t a thing yet n I intend to change that :’D The more I thought about the Omen trailer n what it could’ve have ment for the game, the more I’m convinced that this was one of the things they had to cut from the game. like, you know all these dialouge options that seem to indicate like there had been plans for Noct to either flirt with Luna or Iris n also for him to be a supportive bro or a total douche? considering the Omen trailer, I wonder now whether they originally planned for Noctis to become Ardyn in an alternative ending. that he’d be the one eaten up by the darkness n Ardyn gets the chance to redeem himself instead n becomes worthy of the crystal (or they team up n everything goes boom lol).

In light of Omen!Ardyn-ish!Noctis, I like Magitek/Daemonized Prompto who would have turned alongside with him. But then there’d always be this little bit of the old Prompto left within him that mourns what they, what Noctis!, has become…

I’m enthralled with this idea, hence it became another piece that you can aquire in my etsy shop :)
