Hi, when you styled your wig with the curlers I have to ask, what did you do to get the curls to set? Light heat? Water? Hairspray? I must know.
Hello! I'm going to give you an overview of what I did:
Firstly I did the braids, the tops ones were just your average braids tied at the back, but the lower thicker braids were dutch braids. (Just in case you wanted to know.
As you can see the wig is pretty straight (because I'd worn out all the curls at a previous con) so I had a blank slate.
As my first attempt I used heated rollers on full heat, using a range of sizesUnfortunately this didn't give the really structured curls which she wears in Slavers Bay So I moved on to the best technique I've tried so far. Using my own hair curlers at about 175*c.In this picture you can see both the curls when they were done and the pincurls I used to get the look. When the hair was still hot (I burnt my hands a bit) I wrapped 1-2 inch sections around two fingers and pinned them up. I'd wait at least an hour so that they're have cooled fully and then voile! You're done.
I didn't use any hairspray but I'm sure using that amazing VO5 one would help them keep their form really well.
Hope this was helpful, if you need anything extra feel free to ask me and I'll try and help!
Good luck x
Daenerys cosplay progress report #3
Wig. WIG. THE WIG. I will refuse to calm down, this is the best part of the cosplay. Anyway, the wig originally looked like this with like a braid in it. I took out the braid, and braided it back from the sides like you can see it picture number 1. Now normally she wouldn't have that much of stuff going on in the back [at least the version I'm cosplaying as, before the age of dresses and complex hair]. But the fact of it is that there is just too damn much of the hair, and it would all be at the front if I didn't tie as much to the back.
The second picture is just how it looks at the front, it's supposed to part at the middle, but I always look horrid with a middle parting for my hair, so I slightly shifted the parting so I would feel more confident.
The third picture just shows you how long the wig is, keep in mind in this picture I had already taken a few cm off the ends. This wig is super fluffy, so let's hope I can get it to calm down a bit in time for the convention.
All in all thanks to The Five Wits for having an amazing wig for sale, and let's hope I can find see-through elastic bands for the braids at the back [somehow the pink isn't really Dany's style]
Thanks for putting up with me xx
Guess who got their wig today
