i found out about lightfire and wanted to see if i could design him closer to dagomba / dagbamba culture,, this was rushed and i can’t draw fabric so it looks bad but i did some research into the culture and dances for this design

“Gianna Watson as Yennenga: Tree from which the Mossi nation grew” After months of preparation I am pleased to announce #thefoundersproject. The Founders Project is a multimedia installation project headed by Boston based artist and educator Stephen Hamilton. The project re-imagines Boston Public School High-School students as the legendary founders of the West and West-Central African ethnic groups, that are part of the ancestral base for the African diaspora. The pieces will incorporate painting, weaving and sculpture traditions from each of the spotlighted ethnic groups and is to be installed in a yet to be determined public space in Boston. The project will contribute to a larger syllabus on West African cultural continuity in the African Diaspora designed for High School students. Jacob led me to a nearby river I never knew existed. I always wondered where all the dried, salted fish in my community came from! And more so, I wondered where all those water sellers were getting their drum-fulls of sweet, murky dihydrogen oxide! (Surely, it couldn’t have traveled all the way from Nabogo?!) I learn something new about my community every day, even though I’ve been here for nearly two years. 

The river is kind of in the cut and is closer to a neighboring community. I fell off my bike on my way back. During the rainy season, the whole area floods and is inaccessible, but now, during the dry season, it is vital. After the dam dries up, folks fetch water and wash their clothes from this river.
