KATE’S (BELATED BUT WE’RE PRETENDING) BIRTHDAY ( accepting! )

Kate laughed, but gave Chloe a sidelong glance. They weren’t exactly best friends, their mutual friend being, of course, Max. That had to be how Chloe even knew it was her birthday. Nevertheless, it was nice of Chloe to say, and she gave the much taller girl a quick, warm hug before stepping back.

“Thanks, Chloe. You’re sweet. Tell Max I said thanks for spreading the word, too.”

“I’m straight. I’m straight.” She insisted as she paced around the room before stopping to look back at the bed where her friend was sprawled out. Her friend who she had just kissed. They both knew what Brooke was trying to claim wasn’t true at all. She had feelings for Audrey even if she was reluctant to openly admit it. “Bisexual...okay…” She could handle that, couldn’t she? It was a start. Did she even need a label? If she did that was a good enough one for the moment. “How are you so calm about this?” Maybe the kiss wasn’t such a big deal to Audrey. She’d kissed a girl before so she had plenty of time to think about what she was and what she wanted.

audrey’s crush on brooke was fairly obvious. but who could blame her? it’d be difficult for anyone to hide their attraction to the blonde. she knew they were cuddling to comfort each other. they’d both been to hell and back more times than anyone their age ever should and sometimes they just needed someone to be there for them, keep each other warm, and be reminded of the fact that they were lucky enough to still be alive. but right now, audrey needed something more so her arms moved to wrap around brooke’s waist and hugged her close. she rested her cheek against brooke’s chest with her eyes shut tight and hoped that it wasn’t weird for brooke that she suddenly decided to hold her closer.

The crush that Audrey had on Brooke was definitely a mutual one but it seemed that neither of them was ready to come out and admit it to themselves or each other just yet. There was still time for that. They didn’t have to rush anything now that they Piper and Kieran were both gone - they weren’t fearing for their lives every day or in danger of being picked off one by one. The warmth of Audrey’s body so close to hers made Brooke feel safe and relaxed so when her friend took it one step further she didn’t have a negative reaction. She looked down at the dark-haired girl holding on to her and resting against her chest and smiled even if Audrey couldn’t see it. Instinctively her hand lowered to run through black locks of hair in an attempt to comfort her. She didn’t want to speak because she was afraid it would ruin the moment - a moment she wasn’t ready to have end.

Logically, Mulder knew he shouldn’t have gone into the office that day. He woke up, feverish and with aching muscles. Yet, he knew that he still needed to be in the basement, needed to clean up his files and organize the office, and to start research on a new case. So, he took a pill and went to head to work. He was sitting at his desk, his head pounding as he looked over the newest case file he had found, wincing as he heard the door open. He glanced up, trying to smile. “Agent Reyes, good to see you,”

     Sammy didn’t remember leaving. In the blur of wandering through their garden - he’d forgotten having left the little farm so far behind. Past the gate, chasing a butterfly for a moment before following bird calls. Innocent meanderings of his young age. In all that he’d ... forgotten. But he knew it had been a while. Been long enough that the air was growing cold. And that he didn’t have his jumper. Goosebumps grew over the skin of bare feet, where little toes poked out from beneath the rolled up, worn cuffs of his trousers - with the belt hiked up to his middle, since Sammy still had a ways to be grown into them. 

     Sammy knew where he was. He wasn’t lost. It was the long stretch of road Jack always took to get to town. He’d been this way before... one time when he had run off in fear and anger for his older siblings. And like that time... Sammy was just alone. And he didn’t like that. He didn’t like to be alone. Not when Billy and Jane and Jack were back at the house. Or somewhere else by now. Maybe they’d gone out to the beach. That made him sad, made the lower lip quiver, the eyes start to swell in salted tears. Sammy needed to get home. He didn’t like being alone. 

     Standing almost in the middle of the road, nervous hands playing with the buttons of his shoulder. The growing tear from one eye brought a hand up to rub it, try and erase the sadness away - he didn’t see the car rumbling down the road, pulling up dust and gravel in its wake.

       scully has to admit, SHE’S NERVOUS. she hasn’t even put this dress on since wililam was born and she feels insanely out of practice. but she wants to put an effort in. monica deserves that. when the brunette opens the door, she gives her a nervous smile. ❝ hi. i um...i hope I’M DRESSED OKAY. i haven’t exactly done this in awhile so...am i overdressed ? ❞
