Daily Halacha: Meat or Milk for Microwaves
So, before beginning this discussion, it is recommended to ask your Rabbi what to do. If you do not have a rabbi, check out http://www.chabad.org/asktherabbi/default_cdo/jewish/Ask-the-Rabbi.htm
I always forget what to do, so I'm putting it here.
So for a microwave, it is preferable to get two: one for meat and one for milk. If this is not at all possible, get a two covers so you can microwave in one place (or use clingy plastic wrap on the food plate before sticking it in). Make sure you have a separate cover for meat and milk! In the event that you don't/didn't follow the above rules and now you want to, put a bowl of water in the microwave, heat it and let it boil over (or just boil for a couple of minutes) (add some detergent/soap).
