North Korea, the media and propaganda
in the Korean War the United States supported the iliminist (fascist) factions of the south.
the purpose:
to prevent the reunification of korea under a socialist government of and for the people of korea, the southern part of korea has been under a military occupation.
you know it as a separate country (south Korea), but Korea is one nation that is currently split into two sections. "north Korea", is hereby referred to as the DPRK, which is what it is named.
the news coverage of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is probably the most prime example of the western propaganda machine since the Soviet Union. almost all media representation of the country displays it as a crazy rogue state that kills and tortures it's own citizens for no reasons, led by a maniac who would end the world at first opportunity.
why?
let's look at the two prime sources for most of these news stories: Radio Free Asia and DailyNK. Radio Free Asia is a U.S based "NGO" that is funded by the U.S congress. this is public knowledge. DailyNK is owned by the National Endowment for Democracy, which is also very publicly funded by the U.S congress.
they very, very often cite their sources as "an anonymous defector", "the north korean source", "our anonymous source" without ever acknowledging this makes the source completely unverifiable and easily faked

Example 2:
Example 3:
people look at the DPRK's government news agency as a pure propaganda machine that publishes only lies (it probably does lie, as all media does)
but why is the government funded BBC, DailyNK or RFA more reliable sources? because it's "western" (white)?
not to mention that the news stories these companies broadcast are often just plain wrong. north korean generals will be reported "executed" often by ridiculous means (like the guy who was supposedly eaten alive by a hundred starving dogs, but he really got the firing squad), and appear in person at UN meetings 2 months later
none of this is to condone North Korea or excuse any crimes it may commit as a state, but I'd prefer people know the truth about the propaganda they're fed

a little more about the Korean war
in the process of destroying any hopes of Korea the unified country, the western bombing campaign also completely destroyed almost all of the industrial hubs in northern Korea, and killed TWENTY PERCENT of the population.
imagine a fifth of everyone you know being murdered and what a toll that would leave on your psyche and family for generations. now imagine living in a country where this was true not just for you, but everyone you know.
now add the complete annihilation of your country's economy and industry
now add the same country that did this to you, practicing doing the same thing all over again, with your own people they divided you from
and then your people go through a famine similarly destructive to the war
and then your country is so heavily sanctioned it loses 50 PERCENT of it's trade (source)
and when people in other nations hear the name of your countries, they think you're a brainwashed cult membet, too stupid to realize how great the country that destroyed your life actually is
that's the north korean experience
