Raleigh had a good childhood, probably better than most. Her home life was full of cultural enrichment despite being hundreds of thousands of light years away from the planet she was born on. She and her brother went to a good school and helped their parents with the farm in the afternoons when they didn’t have extracurriculars on their schedule. 

Obviously everything went downhill when slavers attacked the colony though.
