“Why do you keep stumbling over your words? Just how tired are you?”

She mumbled, though her body and mind screamed otherwise. Every fiber of her being longed for slumber, even if only for a few brief moments, but her thoughts refused to grant her any rest. If, for some lucky reason, she were able to fall asleep, her nightmares haunted her enough to wake her within minutes.
She hated it. She was supposed to be so much stronger than this, and yet there she was, barely even able to form a coherent sentence thanks to her lack of sleep. But no matter how hard she tried to pull herself from this slump she was stuck in, she couldn’t. She’d tried everything she could think of that used to cheer her up – polishing her weapons, reading, training… but nothing worked. How so many of her friends had been able to bounce back to their normal selves after the war ended, she didn’t know. But she one thing for certain – she was incredibly envious.
Tired, heavy eyes lifted their gaze to stare at the male before her. She was quite surprised to see that he had come to check on her, though her face remained emotionless – to make any other expression would require energy, and she simply didn’t have any of that to waste. It took enough effort just to speak to the raven, as he’d already commented on.
“…Why d-… d’you care, anyway?”
