Gabby Daleman beat Kaetlyn Osmond and was given a 229 total score - head scratcher. It was a pretty good skate but she had a sloppy landing on the loop and only did a triple toe triple toe combination. She definitely deserved to beat Kaetlyn but that score is not possible. She has three elements in the first half - four jumps - so she’s not gaining the lost points on doing an easy combination by back-loading.
Canada has a problem now and it is who are they going to push for that individual medal. Usually federations have one and they stick to that person and the judges usually go along. When they are indecisive it can really mess up the skaters scores if they aren’t hitting the routine completely.
On a different note, the commentators are insane! They said some are calling Kaetlyn the favorite for the gold medal. As an Alina fan, even, I know the favorite is Evgenia Medvedeva. Unless you haven’t been watching figure skating in four years than that should be clear.
