I haven’t posted an album in a while and as I listened to quite a few over the holidaze, I thought that I would start up the vinyl posts again in 2023. Here is an interesting spin: the one and only full length album by Dalis Car. When Goth Rock pioneers Bauhaus broke up in 1983 two of the four member band went on form Tones on Tales (and eventually Love and Rockets) whilst vocalist Peter Murphy teamed up with the Mick Karn, the bassist from glam rock/synth-pop band Japan. “The Waking Hour” is the only album they released and though not commercially successful, I quite like its quirky tones and rhythms. It is clearly pointing the way for Peter Murphy’s solo output, where he would finally gain a level of commercial success, especially with his third album, “Deep.” My favorite Murphy is his sophomore effort, “Love Hysteria.” At any rate, I’m quite happy to have this in my collection.
