3. What’s a book/series you love to recommend to people?

see answer to number 9 but in addition to that: the darkness outside us by eliot schrefer - holly black's modern faerie tale trilogy (these books are what made me want to be a writer!!!) - upstream by mary oliver

9. What’s one book you think everyone should read?

in an interview i did for a bookseller gig they asked me what book i'd put up as my staff rec and i'll say what i said to them.....stoner by john williams. i just really adore the understated feeling of this book, and it's one that i think is MADE to be re-read time and time again throughout a reader's life. it's a book you can grow up alongside. i love it bc it rly reminds you that life is worth living for the sake of living - not for any huge ambitious goal, not for fame or wealth or whatever... your life is precious because it's your life.

10. What was your favorite book/series when you were growing up?

ooo i mentioned it above but holly black's modern faerie tale trilogy!! i read tithe (book 1) in middle school and was instantly enamored. urban fantasy remains my all time favorite subgenre and the genre i hope to write someday - i just find the meshing of worlds so fun and interesting. valiant (book 2) does some really cool, gnarly stuff with it. aside from that series, my parent read us nancy drew books to put us to sleep and they remain so comfrting to me. also grew up on tolkien's the hobbit!

16. What’s a theme/motif you love to read?

people getting worse!!!!!!!!!!!!! people having every opportunity to find healthy solutions but instead just spiraling into disaster!! note i specifically mean the will graham effect, where people become unhinged murderers or cannibals (or both! <3), not like...jesse pinkman turning back to drugs or a suicidal character killing themself. i mean becoming unfuckingglued from reality and morality and just going apeshit!!! fave book of this nature: a touch of jen by beth morgan

23. What’s your favorite book that you own (as in coolest edition/signed/important to you)?

well def all of my copies of the hobbit. i also have a really nice hardcover edition of stoner whose pages have gooorgeous handfeel. but maybe most precious to me is my copy of sophus helle's gilgamesh that i got signed :')))
