Are we all on the same page that a ghosts core is located in the chest? Most of us? Okay, good.

Well, I developed a headcanon today that when Vlad jammed the gauntlets in Dan's chest to extract him from Danny, the gauntlets damaged his core. He gets chest pains and if he gets too worked up he gets wracked by coughing fits. Bad ones. Like full blown deep chest, shaking shoulders, doubling over, throat tearing coughing.

That's why he acts so calm all the time because he's learned that if he gets riled up there's a good chance that he's going to end up on his knees hacking up blood ectoplasm.
