Booger wasn't the most... well, let's say he was as clumsy as the next-door neighbor that he loved to constantly bother. So, he was the only one who was surprised, when he stumble over his untied shoelace, and fell.
He'd bumped an unlocked door, and it had come open, dumping him into the room on the other side.
"OWW!"
The five-year-old pouted at his banged knees.
It was when he looked up, though, that he started looking upset.
"Noooo... Not a portal!"
He looked around the area he'd tumbled into, trying to figure out where he'd landed, and how he could get back home, again.
"Boots is right... These things are a pain in the butt."
Summary: Even Dormouse has holiday traditions, though she might not admit it.
It was quiet in the part of town Dormouse ‘lived’ in. Christmas Eve was a time for family, after all. And it’s not as though anyone would be wandering in this particular place. Not a creature was stirring, except for Dormouse. Well, that and the few cars she could hear outside and Percy, of course.
She didn’t mind the quiet, especially this time of year. Christmas was something she’d never really understood the celebration of, outside of the whole ‘giving to others’ part. Since the fifties, she hadn’t really been much involved with holiday celebrations anyway. Being shut up inside a music store most of the time had prevented that, of course.
However, there was one thing she did do of her own accord every year she could.
From her traveling bag, she withdrew a pack of small, white candles and some matches. Where she’d gotten them from was anyone’s guess, but at attentive eye might notice a bit of misty light training from her vents as she picked up the items. If there were anyone but the bot and the puppy in the building, of course. Even she wasn’t sure, really.
“I am d-d-d-dreaming tonight of a placccce I love/ Even m-more than I usssssually do/ And although I-I-I-I-I know it's a long road back-back/ I promisssse you”
There was a soft buzz of a hum from her voicebox as she carefully began to light the candles one by one and set them on the ruined counter in the room. She kept her voice soft, and for once seemed to ignore the vocal glitches that popped up even as she sang.
Percy tilted his head as he watched his ‘mommy’ move around the room and his tail wagged a bit under the scarf her was currently using as a blanket. As she sang, the light in the room seemed to grow slightly. It was Christmas; there was no time for gloom.
“I'll be-be-be-be-be home for Chrisssstmas/ You c-c-can count on me/ P-p-p-please have snow and mistlet-toe/ And p-p-p-presents on the tree”
Her lilac photoreceptors flickered as she paused, a hint of black welling at the bottom edge of one as she steadied herself and looked over at Percy before she set out the last few candles. It was a grouping of seven, clustered together and put in a place of prominence.
“Ch-Christmas Eve will find you/ Where the love light gleamssss/ I'll be home for Ch-Christmas/ If only in my dreams”
He vocals seemed to steady for a moment as she lit those candles, the misty light around her vents swirling unnoticed in shades of pale gold and green for a moment.
“Christmas Eve will find you/ Where the love light gleams/ I'll be home for Christmas/ If only in my dreams”
And out went the match as she stood and limped over to settle by Percy’s spot on the couch, her knees pulled as best they could be to her chest.
