How Wonderful Life is (With you in the World): Damien Haas
Word Count: 1153 Summary: Damien is the best baby daddy.
When you first arrived home from the gym it had seemed like the best idea you’d ever had. Your knees and back ached more than usual and the thought of relaxing in a warm bath was the most alluring thing you could imagine. After all, Damien was finishing up his stream so you could use some alone time. You quickly got to work to set up some soft, calming music as well as turning on the water - taking extra care to make sure it wasn’t too hot - before putting in your favorite salts and oils.
The bathroom had smelled amazing when you finally stripped down and sunk into the bath. You quickly lost track of time as you laid your head back against the tub and allowed your eyes to shut. As you moved your hands through the water it became obvious that it was turning cold and that it was probably time for you to get out.
That was going to be a problem.
You hadn’t really taken a bath since you’d gotten pregnant, and now you realized why. How were you supposed to get up? You already struggled sometimes getting out of bed, let alone a slick bathtub on the floor. There were a few attempts to push yourself from the water but it became obvious that it was not going to happen.
“Damien?” you called loudly.
There was no response and you huffed to yourself. “Day? I need your help.”
For a moment you thought he couldn’t hear you and you were slightly worried but that fear went away when the bathroom door swung up. His hair was a little erratic and he had his glasses on making you smile slightly at how cute he looked. “What’s wrong, baby?” he asked, stepping further into the room.
Suddenly, you felt a little embarrassed.
“I… I can’t get up.”
A small smile found its way to his face but if he wanted to laugh at you he didn’t show up. He walked closer and knelt down enough to slip a hand around your back while you put one hand on his shoulder and pushed off the tub edge with the other. Slowly, he eased you to your feet and helped you to step out as well.
“Thank you.” you sighed softly.
Damien chuckled and grabbed a towel, “I wasn’t gonna leave my wife and child stranded in the tub.”
You rolled your eyes and reached for the towel in Damien’s hands but he playfully swatted your hands away. Before you could ask what he was down, Damien carefully ran the towel down your right arm, and then your left. He wrapped it around you to drag it over your back. He took his time to wipe the water droplets from the rounded curve of your belly.
Despite being married to this man, and carrying his child, the whole scenario made your cheeks flush red. It felt incredibly intimate the way Damien was looking at you and oh, so gingerly drying you off. When he had finished with both of your legs, he stood up and smiled warmly back at you. You felt as though you were compelled by some other wordly force to lean in and press a kiss to his lips.
“I love you.” you breathed into the kiss.
Damien kissed you again. “I love you too, darling.”
Without another word, Damien stepped back and grabbed the clothes from the counter you’d brought into the bathroom so you could change once done with your bath. He helped the shirt over your head before he kneeled down to make it easier for you to step into the shorts, and he pulled them up your legs.
“You know, if you hadn’t done it already, I’d let you put a baby in me.” you laughed as you wrapped your arms around his middle.
Damien rolled his eyes and kissed your temple. “Mmm, I’ll keep that in mind.”
He pulled away slowly and grabbed hold of your hand to lead you from the bathroom into your bedroom. You got up onto the bed, leaning against the headboard, and automatically laid a hand on the swell of your abdomen. Damien was quick to climb up onto the bed next to you and lay his head down on your chest, face facing your stomach.
He had taken to doing this lately. He often times just talked or sang softly to your belly and he just loved when he could see or feel the little bean inside moving at the sound of his voice. For now, though, he was mostly quiet except for the soft hum under his breath. You reached a hand out to gently card your fingers through his hair, feeling it to still be a little damp from his shower before he streamed.
“I take it that you haven’t had lunch yet?” you asked softly.
Damien shook his head. “Nah, I can order us something in a minute. You’ve gotta be hungry after the gym.”
You nodded, even though he couldn’t see you, and gently twirled some of his hair around your fingers. You felt his hand slowly run back and forth under your shirt and you allowed your eyes to close, just enjoying the moment. It didn’t take long to feel as though you were going to doze off, but the sound of Damien softly singing brought you back.
“Wise men say only fools rush in. But, I can’t help falling in love with you.”
If anyone asked, you would blame the pregnancy hormones, but you felt tears building in your eyes as he continued to sing lowly. He’d occasionally take a breath and press a kiss to your stomach. You took a shuddering breath and sniffled softly. The movement and sound must have caught Damien’s attention because sat up and looked back at you with wide eyes. In a flash, he was up by you and took your face gently in his hands.
“Baby? What’s wrong?” he asked in almost a whisper.
You shook your head and sniffled again. “I just love you so much.”
Damien let out a small laugh as he leaned forward to press his forehead against your own. “I love you too.” he murmured. The two of you stayed like that for a moment, your body still moving with each of your shaky breaths and sniffles. Damien kissed the very tip of your nose.
“Do you want me to order us some chinese food?”
For whatever reason, probably hormones, you very nearly sobbed at the suggestion. Damien laughed but quickly moved to wrap his arms around you and pressed a few kisses to your shoulder, neck, and cheek. “I’ll take that as a yes.” he teased softly, holding you tighter.
You nodded. “I want dumplings, and General Tso’s.”
“Two egg rolls?” Damien asked, pulling out his phone.
“Three.”
Damien nodded his head and smiled to himself. “Of course, three.”
