"If we not in love can we just pretend?"
Damien Styles
The floating debris all around the area made it hard for almost everyone to move in, especially the chimeras that were trying to attack the power plants. “Here kitty kitty.” Styles swung his arm casually and a whip of nuts bolts and scrap metal slashed though several smaller monsters, taking their small communication nodes with it. They weren’t magnetic and oddly resistant to electrical interference, but that didn’t make them harder to deal with. It was the number that was the problem, not to mention the bigger ones that had to be on their way.
“Sorry, kids, but I’ve got a mad tyrant to kill.” The junkyard behind Styles began to rumble and float as he raised up his hands. With a fling of his arms the avalanche of twisted steel came flying at the oncoming horde, burying it.
“You take one more step toward my people and there’ll be hell to pay! See this hat!? What does it say!?”
The BOSSATRON BUSTER 90,000 swung a wild hook at the giant monster. For every slice and sever that the monster got off, the metal would just float back up into place and jam itself in somewhere else. From the core inside, Styles watched electricity flow from his cybernetic arms to the rest of it. Whenever he moved, it did, and the metal he jammed in the beast’s body was exactly what he needed. He launched himself backward to avoid a slice and held out a fist. One curled up around a secret weapon- the giant Moreley statue from that promotional event he was in. He crunched it around the mech’s fist like a taco brass knuckle.
Then the fist fired. Just before it slammed into the beast a massive spring shot out from behind the fist to give it that extra kick as the massive steel taco buried itself in he creature’s chest. “Gotta thank Tatsuo for that thing later.”
The monster screamed and tore the metal fist away and hurled it right back. It slammed into him with a bit too much force and he had to reorient himself. Then it rushed forward and slashed the other arm clean off. He ducked and a wrecking ball on the back swung around and socked the chimera in the jaw. Styles tried to force any metal around him to come back to the robot. He was met with a tackle for his efforts, forcing the junkyard mech to roll in a pile of twisted scrap.
The best lumbered over the pile before raising a massive foot and stomping down on it more than once. For a while it didn’t move. The monster, seeing nothing, turned to head on.
Then the pile exploded. Styles glared as he and the junk floated and rearranged itself. Styles spit some blood onto the ground as he rose.
“That all you got, you sonovabitch?” The dumpster hat placed itself back on the even more wrecked but still shaped BOSSATRON BUSTER 90,000.
“In my experience, diplomatic responses just give people more room to twist your words.”
“Alright, motherfuckers, heads up! We’re taking on Larsen next week. Normally I’d say get your practice in on your off days but this is our once a year special fucking occasion. You’re practicing and you’re practicing hard. Remember, Kawakami isn’t the only threat on that team even if it’s tempting to target him. Imagine it’s an entire team of that bastard if you have to take them seriously. Leo, how’s the new guy coming along?”
“Pretty good. Cleared the entry trials fine and took our toughest tackle collision better than I could have hoped. Those mountain lumberjacks and made of tough stuff. Told you I knew what I was doing picking him out.”
“So... Ciar is giving air time to a public access dating show from lower Aurora? Why!?”
