Eligibility (To apply you must meet the following criteria):
Full-time, enrolled master’s and doctoral students who have completed at least one semester of graduate work
From any discipline, but must be deeply invested in object-oriented research and the public humanities. Requirements:
Attend the entirety of the two-week residency
Create and conduct a gallery experience drawing on the institute’s theme
Submit of a publishable reflection on their experience of the institute
Mentor a cohort of high school students participating in the CMA curatorial apprenticeship (Each fellow will be assigned a cohort with whom they must interact, as a means of mentorship and to assist with research questions, at least twice during the fellowship year.)
Submission of a short, publishable critical essay on a student-produced exhibition
Schedule (tentative): June 11-22, 2018
Week 1:
Orientation/Welcome
Gallery workshops with CMA staff and studio sessions with Nanette Yannuzzi
Visits to local collecting and cultural institutions in Cleveland (Dietrich, Karamu, Morgan conservancy)
Week 2:
Workshop and lecture with Tyehimba Jess
Independent research and group work
Final review
