Hmm yknow I never see people's headcanons for tempest characters? So how about caliban and/or Ariel for the meme thing :D
Why I like them:
Ariel: He is a mysterious and creepy bird dude who is also 100% loyal to his master but also has a strange and unsettling backstory that we don’t get to know much about? Also he’s somehow both gentle and volatile at the same time. ALSO I think the only Shakespearean character to be canonically nonbinary? Unless you count Viola…
Caliban: He’s interesting and I love the Tragic Villains so of course. I also love Tragic Monsters and his relationship with Prospero is like… man. Neither of them are innocent there, but it’s definitely fascinating to contemplate.
Why I don’t:
Ariel: Sometimes I don’t know what his purpose in the play even was other than to be Prospero’s magic, personified? But I don’t have any major complaints for him really.
Caliban: Tried to rape Miranda which is of course Not Cool (luckily he didn’t)
Favorite episode (scene if movie):
Ariel: The scene where he shows up in Full Bird Mode (like a harpy) and freaks everyone the fuck out cause he can.
Caliban: The scene where Stephano and Trinculo teach him the joys of alcohol

Ariel: I know “Hell is empty and all the devils are here” is technically Ferdinand’s line but…I did like “I and my fellows are ministers of Fate” too.
Caliban: “Let it alone, thou fool. It is but trash.”

I don’t know any of Caliban’s. I mean he turns into a rock at one point; that was kinda cool.

I don’t think Ariel and Miranda ever met in canon, but I think the idea of him acting as a protective guardian to her while she was growing up on the island (even if she never saw him) is cute.

Also; I think Caliban is half-human. His mother was some sort of spirit-type thing but I think his father was either a man who came to the island or possibly the reason his mother had to flee to there.

I’m not sure I have one for either of them…
A wish:
I hope Ariel is happy. Actually? If Prospero actually left in the end then I hope Caliban gets his island back and calms the heck down. And maybe he and Ariel can reconcile a little.
