(hahahahaha) -- 32. Getting Caught in the Act
Korin paused in the middle of the war room, looking around at a couple of conspicuously-empty spaces. “Huh,” he muttered as he caught sight of Lana’s bright hair off to the side. “Hey, Lana, question for you.”
“No, I’m not interested in you buying me dinner, for the fortieth time.” Lana rolled her eyes at the tall, blond-haired smuggler. “And I’m not helping you glitter-bomb your brother’s quarters either.”
“You are no fun,” Korin complained. “Those weren’t actually my questions though. You seen Theron any time in the last bit?”
“No, I haven’t. I think he said he was doing an inventory check on our current ammunition stashes.” Lana got to her feet, glancing between Korin and a datapad on her hand. “What did you need?”
“Just had a question on some things he wanted me to get done.”
“That sounds almost suspiciously responsible of you, Captain.”
“I know. I think I got bit by a bug or something.” Korin offered an exaggerated shudder. “Might need t’ go into quarantine until the symptoms of ‘adulting’ wear off.”
“Oh, Force forbid you act like an actual adult,” Lana muttered under her breath.
“What was that?”
“You heard me. While you’re looking for Theron, can you make yourself useful and help me with something?”
“Fiiiine.” Korin fell into step beside the Sith as she started walking toward the military hangar. “Whatcha need?”
“An extra body to carry a couple of boxes of equipment back to the war room.” Lana frowned at her datapad as she attached it to her belt again. “Not that I know how many I need in total since Theron hasn’t told me what we have…”
“Don’t you have the Force for this sorta thing?”
“Maybe I like making you work, Captain.”
Korin glanced to the side at Lana’s tiny smirk. “You cruel, taunting woman,” he muttered, very maturely sticking his tongue out at Lana’s back. “Why do you do this to me?”
“To steal the line from your brother, I’m a Sith. I’m clearly the personification of pure evil.”
“That kinda stuff makes me believe it,” Korin muttered as he approached the storage unit Lana needed, built deeply into the walls of the underground base. He unlocked the door and slid it open –
A noise from Theron that could be best described as a yowl. A stifled shriek from Xaja as she shot back to her feet, abandoning the task she’d been very focused on thirty seconds ago. “GAH!” Korin yelled as he jumped backward, averting his eyes to look anywhere except at his sister and his best friend, just hearing the door slam shut with a harder-than-strictly-necessary Force-push. Lana whirled as she buried her face in her hands, the gloves not quite covering the bright red flare to her cheeks. Korin let himself indulge in a long list of colourful expletives as he inwardly considered the merits of gouging his eyes out. “You two couldn’t have picked a better spot?!” he yelled at the door.
“We kriffing locked the door, dimwit!” Xaja’s muffled voice shouted back at him.
“And your timing sucks!” Theron added, his voice an odd mixture of mortification and anger and the oddly strangled sensation of being… interrupted. Korin didn’t need to be a Jedi Master to feel the waves of stifling embarrassment radiating from the storage unit and its two occupants.
“You’re worse than kriffing teenagers,” Lana snapped at the door through her hands. “Are you decent yet?”
“Give me a bloody minute here, Beniko!” That was a tinge of low-key panic in Theron’s voice that Korin could hear. For a long minute, there was the slight rustling of fabric and a very uncomfortable grunt, and soft murmurings from the couple inside, before the door slid open again and the venerable Alliance Commander stepped out, trying to act dignified despite having just been caught giving her spymaster lover a blowjob. Said spymaster followed her, walking very gingerly and giving Korin and Lana both a murderous glare. “I hate you both.”
“Yes, well, neither of us picked a storage unit to get busy in,” Lana retorted. “Just count yourself fortunate neither one of us is Cipher Nine.” Theron’s face immediately went from as red to white as Xaja groaned into her hands.
Korin glared at his friend, then at his sister, then had to look away from both of them, lest he be reminded of the mental image that was now scarred into his brain. “An’ if nobody else here minds, I’m gonna go bleach my brain and try to burn out the last five minutes from my memory. Ciao.”
