SSS - A Snippet from the next chapter of Affairs of Court

So. It was supposed to be Phoenix and there is in fact another chapter of Phoenix almost finished. But the plot bunnies carried me away. Instead, there's a new scene written for Affairs of Court. And something that resembles a plot line in my head. Words below the break.

Faster than Finnick thought possible, Mellark drove his knife into the table, perilously close to Cato's hand. The baron's eyes narrowed to slits.

“I should kill you for that.”

“That is your Queen you're speaking of,” Mellark snarled, his bright blue eyes swirling in anger. “I should cut your filthy tongue out of your mouth right now.”
