 𝒅𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒏  𝒉𝒂𝒔  𝒉𝒊𝒔  𝒐𝒘𝒏  𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒔  .  .  .  for  not  wanting  to  feed  on  every  human  waddling  around  this  cellar.  it’s  got  less  to  do  with  the  morals  of  the  thing  ,  so  much  as  the  fact  that  he’s  lost  his  usual  ability  to  compel  the  memory  away.  this  hasn’t  happened  in  the  history  of  ever  ,  so  if  he  never  gains  the  ability  back  ?  every  idiot  in  this  room  will  know  who  he  is.  so  ,  a  distraction  with  an  unlikely  ally  is  his  first  idea.  “rosie,”  he  greets  ,  his  tone  utterly  lacking  the  usual  humor  &  mischief  with  which  he  regards  her.  his  words  ,  on  the  other  hand  ?  “you’re  looking  especially  pale  today.”  damon  crouches  down  by  the  other  vampire.

 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆’𝒔  𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚  𝒔𝒐  𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉  .  .  .  idleness  that  damon  could  take.  he  tried  (  no  one  could  argue  otherwise  )  but  he  didn’t  last  a  full  day  before.  it  wasn’t  even  the  hunger  that  did  him  in;  it  was  the  restlessness.  it  was  inevitable  that  after  a  certain  point,  there’s  no  turning  back,  and  damon’s  decision  was  made.  as  he  stands  ,  his  sights  are  set  on  with  hair  he  would’ve  envied  decades  ago;  now,  damon  just  wants  a  taste  of  that.  “hey,  bud.”  the  greeting  comes  with  a  slap  on  the  man’s  back,  chipper,  but  damon’s  demeanor  is  far  from  friendly.  he  leans  in  ,  lowers  his  voice  like  a  secret  preparing  to  escape  and  not  the  fangs  that  are  slowly  growing  ,  with  the  veins  under  his  eyes  darkening  to  black  and  comes  a  comment  reeking  of  sarcasm,  “you’ll  have  to  forgive  me.”

 𝒉𝒆  𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒆𝒅  𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓  𝒕𝒉𝒆  𝒕𝒉𝒆  𝒃𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒆  .  .  .  awhile  ago  ,  but  only  after  overhearing  her  conversation  with  another  cellar-bound  individual.  “did  i  hear  you  got  separated  from  your  daughter?”  fake  concern’s  plastered  on  his  face  ;  it’s  entirely  obvious  that  he’s  mocking  her,  even  to  the  average  dumbass.  “god,  that’s  horrible.  i  heard  something  about  a  girl  getting  blown  into  the  river  before  we  got  in  here.  probably  nothing,  though,  right?”

 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆  𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒎  𝒕𝒐  𝒃𝒆  .  .  .  some  real  characters  in  here  that  damon’s  stuck  with.  people  he’d  never  give  a  damn  about  seeing  or  meeting  ever  again  ,  and  now  the  cellar  is  crawling  with  them.  and  it’s  the  fucking  worse.  the  company  of  the  girl  in  a  dress  ,  she’s  not  the  most  annoying  person  here.  that’s  not  to  say  he’s  entirely  happy  when  she  starts  his  way  with  some  food  he  saw  her  offering  others  earlier.  “i  don’t  really  share.  thanks,”  he  snaps  sarcastically.  don’t  get  him  wrong  ;  damon  is  hungry.  but  not  for  whatever  she’s  giving  out.  more  for  the  blood  he  can  hear  pumping  through  the  veins  in  her  throat.

 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏  𝒕𝒉𝒆  𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆  𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒅  .  .  .  to  put  him  in  here  with  a  bunch  of  random  ass  strangers  ,  it  gave  him  permission  to  get  in  their  business  where  he  wouldn’t  normally  give  a  shit.  damon  has  always  ,  even  before  his  transition  ,  used  humor  to  distract  himself  (  and  others  ).  it’s  a  little  darker  ,  now.  there’s  a  woman  a  few  feet  away  ,  and  he  wouldn’t  normally  care  or  even  notice  that  she’s  wearing  gloves.  now  ,  he  can’t  help  himself  from  commenting  on  it  ,  sarcastically.  “how  can  you  possibly  be  cold?  it’s  a  million  degrees  in  here.”  maybe  it’s  just  him  ;  one  of  the  many  side  effects  of  holding  back  from  the  feed.

 𝒅𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒏  𝒊𝒔  𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒍𝒚  .  .  .  itching  for  something  interesting  to  happen  in  the  cramped  cellar,  it’s  true.  but  more  than  that  ,  he’s  itching  for  someone  something  to  eat.  the  moment  he  realized  he  was  stuck  in  here  ,  damon  had  started  to  figure  out  who  in  here  would  be  missed  the  least  ,  and  ultimately  decided  on  some  quiet  ,  scared-looking  kid  in  the  corner  ,  who  hasn’t  said  a  word  yet.  he  figures  ,  might  as  well  get  in  his  good  graces.  “hey,  shrimp,”  is  damon’s  greeting  as  he  moves  to  sit  next  to  him.  “this  is  pretty  scary,  huh?”

 𝒕𝒉𝒆  𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕  𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆  𝒅𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒏’𝒔  𝒈𝒂𝒛𝒆  .  .  .  scans  her  over  ,  it  doesn’t  linger.  but  she’s  memorable  enough  ,  that  when  he  glances  her  way  again,  he  decides  to  slide  closer  to  where  she  sat  on  her  phone.  there  aren’t  many  level-headed  people  here  &  she  seems  to  be  minding  her  own  shit.  for  once  ,  he’s  not  tempted  to  make  a  snide  comment.  “any  luck  on  that  device  of  yours?”  he  keeps  his  voice  down  ,  almost  like  he  wishes  not  to  be  heard.  also,  damon  just  isn’t  used  to  reaching  out  to  strangers  with  less  than  ill  intentions.

 𝒉𝒊𝒔  𝒈𝒂𝒛𝒆  𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔  𝒕𝒐  .  .  .  the  man  sprawled  out  on  the  grass  in  front  of  them.  and  then  he  looks  at  bella  again  ,  a  humored  scoff  leaving  his  lips.  “of  course  i  did.  he  didn’t  spontaneously  combust,  bella.”
