“May the Cat Be with You”

For my lovely wife’s birthday picture this year, I wanted to do two things. 

Celebrate how nerdy we are.

Make our cat really goddamn big.

I feel I have achieved my goals.

Do you know how glorious it is to have someone in your life that appreciates your obsessions? She might not share every one of them, but she understands them. Because she’s got her own.

It’s hard to remember, but there was a time when it wasn’t cool to be nerdy. But one thing that I love about Beth is that she’s always been comfortable enough in her own skin to enjoy what she wants to enjoy. To go her own way. And damn what anyone else thinks.

And that’s amazing.

Happy Birthday, my sweet nerd. I love you more every single day.

"Our Full House"

As is my custom, I have drawn my lovely wife a picture for her birthday. Every year, I draw them, frame them, give them to her, and then she bugs me until I finally get around to hanging it in our bedroom (usually sometime in mid-to-late summer).

I have been doing this for eight years now. And we're running out of room.

So I had to get creative. Which led me to draw a triptych, designed to be hung one over the other on a skinny wall next to the door.

It represents the pecking order of our little family. And every single day, I'm happier than ever before that I get to be low man on the totem pole in my wife's little kingdom.
